I think most devs are going to go with what makes the most money regardless of platform.
If that means a dumbed down run and gun that has 3 MP maps and a 3hr SP for $100, thats what theyll do because people are paying for it.
I hear you I have been saying that since 2005 when GRAW and R6VEgas came on the scene... Talk about Night & Day

Its sad. The gamers that are looking for depth, challenge and such are few compared to those who want simple instant gratification. And devs wont make as much money from the few.
Silly on my part but one can only hope

Talking about "Dumbing Down", we also have seen this decay in the past years or so, if the rumor is true (games made on PC and then ported)... does that mean we will be able to see more tactical games (read less run & gun, being grabbed by the hand and told when to shoot and what button to use to do it?) or this will not change?

To me, the porting sucks but the dumbing down sucks even more.
When you start with a game coded for a PC, it sets the bar pretty high. Even a dumbed down version of that will be better than what we've previously seen.
Knowing what I know about Companies like Ubisoft, it just means that the games will be now even more broken down than before, with even less Tech support and patches that will ruin what does not need fixing!

I guess a dumbed down version will be prettier to watch and just a few clicks away

My main issue I've had with adventure/RPG/action games is that -now- the only thing that prevents you from proceeding in the storyline is killing. That is horrible to me.

Remember tomb raider when most of the frustration was about not being able to make that big jump?
Yeah, you don't see that anymore.
Yep. this is what I meant by taking forever just to figure out how to open a door because of falling to your death and trying to find alternate paths. Or seeing something in the distance and thinking how do I get way up there.
Fun times. And looking back there wasnt really much shooting overall. It was mainly exploration, and was still challenging. Of course it didnt hold your hand. You were on your own.
All kids want to know now is how fast I can hack the game to get the most XP to show off that he is king when in fact he'd be hard pressed hitting the broad side of a barn in real ife shooting like that.

Another thing I hate is the fact that everything is so scripted but, to bamboozle you into believe the SP is hard and long, they now put in a Boss-Fight that is indeed tough to beat... until the point that you figure the script out and then he is down pretty easy.

I'm not holding my fingers crossed.

Only Valve still cares about making proper PC games.
Yeah right; this is the same Valve that's been giving us Half-Life 3 for 6-7 years now

Anyway I wouldn't hold my breath either that PC gaming is going to get better; if anything developers will be further pressured to support the game consoles first then PC because after all, these guys aren't making game consoles for nothing. And the fact that the hardware is getting better only make it that much more compatible with PC's....making the push for consoles even greater because now they can claim the Console is just as good as PC, "if not better".

I just finished off Dead Space 3, and the game played very clucky with a mouse and kb at times - climbing mountains, opening the engineering door locks. You can clearly see this was designed with a game controller (console) in mind.

Thus while it was harder on PC, it felt more as a result of bad keyboard combos than just being harder. On the other hand you also saw a glimpse of how easy the game would have been with a game controller on an xbox

I thought that once the Economy tanked, people were going to stop buying sight unseen... how wrong I was!.

It seems they are buying even more now... it boils down to marketing and stupidity I'm guessing

100% correct! I quit buying games when they first came out a long time ago(unless there has been documented beta-testing available to watch) because of all of the duds that they were putting out. I hope people realize there are more than just mainstream games out there. Independent games are on the rise!

I don't think they should port them over in the first place.

Porting to PC is an afterthought and more times than not with a very bad outcome... add that to the dumbing down of difficulty on the games and what you end up with is a 60 dollar Frisbee but they keep selling them because people keep buying it and tossing it to the side while they go get the next flavor of the month

Yes, it is most definitely a very challenging game. PC exclusive as well.

Additionally it's a great looking game, especially the forest areas. The developers did a great job with the game.

War Thunder--such a hard game. It's still in BETA, but works really well! Probably the hardest game I've ever played.
