"Can you run it?" is definitely wrong with the CPU. Sandy Bridge Celeron @ 1.6 will demolish the AMD+ 4000+ and Core 2 Duo at 2 GHz due to far more efficient architecture. The Intel HD 2000 graphics according to Passmark is on par with the GeForce 7800 GT (196 to 224 vs 211) so you can play smoothly with occasional choppiness on the lowest setting.

The best way is to actually run it and see if the performance is adequate.

Hi there.
Just a remark on the LATEST version of SimCity.

I was listening last night on BBC Radio (BBC R5 Live) "Up all Night" to Rhod Sharpe who had an excellent snippet on his program about the latest version of SimCity where the gamers were discussing that "It looks as if it isn't properly developed yet" where things fade / disappear etc and also the prospect now of less and less of future games being available to play from the Disk - you will have to play more and more connected to the servers and PAY a subscription or for updates etc.

Not sure if I like that way it's going -- however it's all to do with generating more profit -- I thing they use that GHASTLY term "Monetising the product". - Why can't people just speak plain English and say "Rip the customers off".

SimCity was a classic game - now trying to get half developed stuff out of the door and expect users to find errors / debug the game seems to be a way to KILL the whole idea of what decent gaming should all be about.

It runs OK (older version) on a laptop with 8GB RAM and an i3 processor. I've got an SSD and you need a decent external monitor I'm using a Samsung 24 inch LCD. -- my Graphics is the bog standard INTEL graphics in the laptop (Intel Graphics HD 3000). Not by any means a dream Gamers machine.

You might find the SimCity discussion somewhere in the BBC's podcast of last nights program -- It's a 4 Hour show from 01.00 GMT - 05.00 GMT and from what I remember I was listening about 1 Hr in.

It does? Good, they fixed the server issues.

or maybe the server overloading just "resolved itself"
