Portal 2 CO-OP Mic will not stop streaming.

Hello, I have just recently purchased a HP with Windows 8 and I am making it into my gaming laptop. All of the games work PERFECT, except CO-OP mode on Portal 2. When I am in game, it will not stop streaming my mic, even though I have my mic muted. So, the other player can here anything that goes on in the background. I did not have this problem on Windows 7. None of the other games that I play, that use mic while in game, have this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello WinterBlue,

I ran into this problem recently as well. You have to go into the game Settings and change the MIC options to "push-to-talk". That way the MIC will only work when you press the designated talk key, which can be set in the Controls section in the games Settings.

Hope this helps, let us know how this goes.

I already have it set as /. I have changed it to multiple keys, none of them helping.

The very last setting in the Audio section of the games Option menu is SETUP MICROPHONE. Have you tried using this to see if it has the option to change some of the settings?

Wow..... It never hit me to look in the options of the game. It was set to stream constantly. I just changed it to "Push to talk" and it stopped streaming. Thank you for your help.

Haha no problem, I am glad that you got it to work. If it's possible, please mark the thread as "Solved" and enjoy Portal.

I thought I already marked it as solved?

Honestly I didn't even check, I just assumed it wasn't. I am just used to people never marking them as solved. But thanks for doing it.
