    Games on win7

    Hello everybody

I am having problems playing games. I mean they run really really slow. I am trying to play Tropico 3 at 800*600, all settings on minimum and still am getting really bad FPS. I had no problems with it in Vista 64 but in win7 I can barely play any games. I tried reinstalling the graphics driver but still no change. This also happens sometimes in movies, they start lagging and cutting off the audio for a few seconds. I`ve got:

    Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology
    ● Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7350
    ● 4096 MB ;(2 x 2048 MB)
    ● 320 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive 5400 rpm
    ● NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    ● Up to 1791 MB Total Available Graphics Memory
    with 512 MB dedicated
    ● IEEE 1394 FireWire® Interface

    Clarity

Are you running 64bit, or 32?

Can you go into device manager (type device in search) go to the display tab abd check that your 9600 is listed and doesn't have a yellow triangle on it. If it is missing or has a triangle it means the driver needs to be installed.

Did win 7 install the video driver or did you? if you did did you use a win 7 driver, or a vista driver?

Can you check what happens in task manager (right click taskbar) when you are running the game that is most effected. let us know what the cpu and ram are doing.

    thanks

I went into device manager and there is no triangle and everything looks fine. Also I am running the 64 bit version and have downloaded and installed win 7 drivers for my graphics card directly from nvidia. When I alt-tab into the task manager the ram is at about 40-50% and cpu usage goes from 40-to 100 but never stable. I could say i saw it most in the 60`s.

    Thanks.

I heard someone say that they were able to run Vista drivers for nividia graphics card that fixed the low fps problems. You might try that.

cause i've got my XP copy in a slingshot.. i didn't pay a bundle for a video card to have it underperform because of the OS

I have the same problem...i have a dual boot of xp x64 and win7 x64..... my rig is: intel core 2 duo 2.93ghz, ram 4gb DDR-2 , Intel DG41RQ motherboard, XFX ati Radeon 4670... with this rig i can play fifa 11 at my XP with max setting at 60fps no lagging, perfect. But when i play it in Windows 7 with same settings, the fps goes down to 30~35... why is that? I also switched my power setting to gaming mode but still nothing... isn't Windows 7 suppose to increase gaming performance? same when i play Assassin's creed brotherhood in xp max setting 30fps but in Windows 7 max setting 15~20! all my drivers are updated and i just can't find out what the heck is wrong...any help???how come the same game in same hardware and same settigs have this huge defference playing on a rather better OS...doesn make sense
