I Am Alive not saving properly.

Hello chaps, now this is a big problem for me.

I bought Ubisoft's I Am Alive on Monday, and every time I save I get a little problem. When it saves and I exit to the main menu it saves perfectly, but when I quit to desktop it erases the save and I have to start from the beginning. I am getting a bit annoyed at this and was wondering if anyone had found a way past it, I really wanna finish the game without starting from the beginning again.

    Cheers, Sparrow.

Ubisoft huh... well, that pretty much says it all.

Have you gotten to their Forums to see if anyone else is having such a problem, I am thinking there will be plenty of guys stuck like you...

If I have to take a shot, I would say it has something to do with uPlay, perhaps you have not registered to it, perhaps you need to play the game offline so it saves on your drive.

I don't do much Ubishaft since the fiasco that was Vegas2 and less so now with all their DRM crap but I do like to peruse their forums from time to time to see how many more people have succumb to their illegal ways to bamboozle people... even though by law, it is Legal for them to do so!

P.S.: Here... Oh and it appears uPlay is not necessary to play this game!

What kind of save system does the game use? Can you manually save or does it have auto save points?

If it has auto save points it might be that when you exit the game, the game resorts back to the last auto saved area.

And define beginning - beginning of the game or level?

It uses a auto-save system, at least that's what I've seen so far don't know if it has a manual save system.

The VERY beginning, the beginning of the game.

Thanks for the link to the forums, but after searching a few terms with "Save Problem" I could not find anything.

Is the game on the same drive as the OS?

It appears that the game has a "Checkpoint System" and you must hit the Light Beacons for the game to save? Again... this is what I found while googling the game... it was for the Xbox though.

I also found this... "The game saves every time you see a little spinning logo in the lower right corner"

Then again, it is a Ubisuck game after all and their idea of hardcore gameplay is not finish their games so it appears the games are longer than they should be

Found this as well... hope it helps

I don't see what your issue is against Ubisoft for using an autosave system when they aren't the only ones doing so...

    Crysis 2
    Bioshock Infinite
    Dead Space 3
    Prototype 1 & 2

So lets see, that's EA, Activision, and 2K games, to name a few.

Now if you don't like the autosave system (I don't) that's different, but to single out Ubisoft for this is a bit unfair.

Agreed, I don't really see what the whole hate Ubisoft thing is about but to each his own I guess. I would say about 1/3 of my total games are Ubisoft and I don't really have anything negative to say.

As to the OP, I have this game and didn't have any issues with the save system other than the autosaves were sometimes too few and far between. Have you tried verifying integrity of game cache? Maybe try re-installing?

I'm gathering this is a Steam based game?

If so, definitely check permissions like I suggested earlier, especially if the game is on anything other than "C" drive.
