FRAPS lag spikes while playing crossfire

I am trying to record some crossfire game play for a clan video but while recording i am getting huge fps drops. I sit around 200+ and while recording sometimes drop to 17 whats going on and what settings should i use to get it optimal while still looking good. I am running a GTX 660 TI SC 3GB with 16 GB of ram.

The few times I have ran FRAPS I have suffered the same issues that you are having. Lowering the settings has helped but then, you don't get the eye candy video that you are looking for

Dumb question but, have you tried playing it with different settings? 480p or 720 instead of 1080?
