    Black Screen, Starcraft 1

    Hey,

I installed Starcraft I yesterday and the game doesn't work properly. The screen turns black after starting the game, (the sound and music still works and the menus seem to work too, since I can hear the blip when I click on a menu) and I can exit the game by pressing Escape (repeatedly if I opened a menu) so I guess the only thing that doesnt work properly is the way itīs displayed.
I have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 and the screen is 16:9 (since itīs a laptop I canīt change it and I don't have another monitor to try out right now.. but Iīd rather play using the laptops monitor).

What I already tried to fix the problem:
    - Compatibility modes (a few combinations of Windows XP and different settings for the screen and Windows 98 with different settings for the screen)
    - Starting the game via steam
    - Patching the game to v1.6.1
    - Reinstalling the game
    - Reinstalling the game and patching before I run it once
    - Leaving the desktop screen sesolution window open (since thatīs supposed to fix a colour bug)
    - Installing the game on a windows xp computer (where it works), copying it here and starting it

None of these attempts solved the problem. When I started the game via steam the computer sorta crashed but I didnt want to use steam anyway if possible.

I also tried blizzardīs support but they dont support their old games on new operating systems (and it says Windows Vista or XP on the back of the box..).

So if anyone has any idea what else I could try (or a working solution - that would be even better) let me know please.

Thanks for answers in advance :)

SC on Windows 7 Laptop w/ATI video card

Just a really late answer to your problem, I've spent about 10 hours on it myself.
To get SC to run, I had to switch to the intel/power-saving video card, works, but it's stuck in a tiny corner of the screen... Working on that issue...
