Wow, excellent post. I just went to pop in SC - BW and wow, I thought I was going to have to give up. Tried disabling all Aero and everything with still no luck. I brought up resolution box and bang, everything is fine.
I also had no luck check marking all the setting except run in compatibility mode. It would work for 1 second then the crappy colors came back. running 16.1
Thanks for the excellent thread

One trick that has always worked for me was going from 32-bit colors to 16-bit colors. The steps are:
1. Right-click on the Desktop, choose Screen Resolution.
2. Click on Advanced Settings (next to Orientation)
3. Click on the Monitor tab, then choose High Color (16-bit) from the colors dropdown.
4. Click on Apply.
5. Confirm the display settings prompt.
You'll lose the fancy Aero effects, but Starcraft should now work fine. Of course, after you're done playing you can always switch back to 32-bit color mode.
Bonus tip: If you're playing Starcraft and the colors get messed up (mini-map goes black, etc), simply Alt-tab out of Starcraft and Alt-tab back in. | My System Specs

Hi,
So i have Windows 7 64 bit build 7077.
Your different Fix(screen resolution changer / 16 bit etc...) works when the game is in none scaling mode...but i have a widescreen. But when i use maintain aspect ratio from the ATI CCC, the 4:3 is ok, but color are messed up again....
Any solutions? | My System Specs

just fyi Actually i have a widescreen monitor and 19"s with the widescreen as my main. its not the screen size, this fix WORKED on any monitor. the problem is that its not working on newer builds. I noticed around build 7068 my "fix" stopped working.
I've currently reverted to 7000 again, because of stability issues with the latest builds, if I were you I'd wait until RC1 rolls out. Personally i would run it in a virtual PC... I like to play the ultimate doom games once in a while anyway.
I going to look around and see if you can still run SC in a window (latest version), perhaps it wont have this error then. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Zanza Computer OS Windows 7 (7127) CPU i7 920 (4.1Ghz) Motherboard nForce X58 Memory 2x 2gb 1066 (4gb total) Graphics Card GTX 295, Sound Card Creative X-Fi Platinum (Fata1ty) Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VX924 (2x - 19"), Viewsoic VX2835wm (1x - 28") Screen Resolution 4480x1200 Total, 1920x1200 max single Keyboard Microsoft Desktop 8000 Mouse Microsoft Desktop 8000 PSU 1100W Case P182 Moded Cooling Air, mod cooling Hard Drives Raptor (main)

I have tried all the fixes suggested in this thread, and my Starcraft is still all wrong coloured.
HOWEVER, it does, rarely, work fine. There's no pattern to it tho. I could be trying out the suggestions from this thread and it would work (once) and then I'd try to run it without any compatibility settings and it would be OK again (once).
So far I haven't been able to get the game to display correctly "two times in a row", that is, if I get it to work and exit the game, not once have I been able to get it instantly back up with the correct colours.
Oh, and I'm running the latest Starcraft version as well. | My System Specs
