although the solution helped launch the game with no graphical problems, i'm still getting the game to freeze on me with no way to exit the game (even trying to bring up the task manager wont work)
does anyone else have this problem and if so do you know how to fix it?
Try this,
Right click on shortcut, click on compatibility tab, enter as follow.
-RUN this program in compatibility mode for "windows XP sp3" (optional???)
-RUN in 256 colors(required)
-RUN in 640x480 screen resolution(required)
-RUN this program as an administrator(optional???)
Click "OK"
Play SC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yea I am trying all these fixes for an old game called knights and merchants and nothing is working I know this conversation is about starcraft but could someone help I have windows 7 7127 thx in advance
In relation to this, I've eben talking to Hellinsect (the creator of the StarCraft Resolution Expander) and we're working on fixing Resolution Expander to work with 1920x1200, 2560x1600, and higher. I was able to test 1920x1200 and it works now, but before Hellinsect releases a new version he wants to fix a few more things and add a few features.
Check out his release thread here.
Also, the repacked Resolution Expander that I posted on the second page includes my version of the "explorer.exe" fix. Basically it uses an interactive batch file to close explorer.exe while you're playing StarCraft with the Resolution Expander.
On another note, NONE of the other fixes in this thread work for me (Change Resolution Window, 16 bit color, compatibility settings, etc, etc), the only fix that works 100% of the time is the "explorer.exe fix".
i open up my screen resolution and everything got fixed no more bad colors , thx dude .
you are awesome ,
I am running windows 7 Ultimate 7600 , 32-bit .
and Starcraft 1.16.1
@Freelancer852,
What was your 'explorer fix'? I can't seem to find it on the 2nd page.
Thanks,
Johnathan
The StarCraft Resolution Expander still doesn't solve the crashing of Windows 7 RTM. But it did solve the screen background thing with the explorer fix.
