Volition to support Mods for Saint's Row 3 and 4

It's almost time to dust off Saint's Row 3 again. Volition has announced they are releasing Modding tools for Saint's Row 3 and 4 in the near future.

I call topless strippers and/or female gang members being among the first ten mods released.

I'm looking forward to this now. I've modded GTA IV, but I really think Saint's Row has more to build on. Plus with proper tools and support it will be even more awesome.

Besides naked bewbs, I'm looking forward to retexturing everything and slapping on some new shaders and lighting for it.

Honestly I always thought Saint's Row was more fun than GTA IV to begin with, now there's yet another reason to keep it installed.

I'd say that the Mods will likely make it worth it, but there's no hurry. Wait for a decent sale as the tools haven't even been released yet and it'll probably be a few weeks before anything decent is released after they are anyway. Probably a couple of months before you can do a major overhaul.

It's the standard improvement from PC to Console otherwise. Better draw distance, framerate, more detailed textures, etc. Unless you're a huge fan I wouldn't say the base unmodded game is worth playing again on PC if you've already played through the console version. It looks nicer and you can see farther, but gameplay is pretty much the same otherwise. It's the best version to own, but not yet worth replacing a console edition if you've already got one.

I'd either wait until the mod tools are released or snag it when there's a big discount in a Steam sale or something. SR 4 is dropping soon and it's a pretty good bet they'll be discounting SR 3 to help push it. So I suggest keeping your eyes open for a good deal and holding out on buying it on PC until it's worth it. It's worth buying again at a good sale price, but not at full price just yet, maybe after the tools are released it might be worth a full price pickup.
