I don't know if this is 7 related our not.. Other than the name typo (KeithGS, not KethGS D xD
Hello, I'm having some graphical issues while being ingame after 5-10 minutes of being in a game.. I've had this issue with LoL (which is in beta, so I didn't think much) but when I go into call of duty, after 10-15 minutes of being ingame (unless I alt tab) my screen goes like this; http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6893/shot0002k.jpg
I have a 8800GTX OC (by default)
I'm running Windows 7 ultimate, 8GB of DDR2 RAM, AMD Phenom II X4 920, 3.08Ghz (oc)
I've tried installing the latest drivers, that didn't help, I updated directx fully, I've also reinstalled with stock drivers. no go.
I've also watched the temps, they are not getting any higher than 80~85c (the card is known to run hot)
any idea? I'm bout to install Windows XP and see If I get this problem... | My System Specs |

Hi KethGS, Welcome to the Seven Forums." It is great to see you have already filled in your system specs.
Would like to help, albeit not into games. Because of the high volume of Newbies someone who is capable of helping you is in short demand, however, it you can wait for a little while hopefully someone will be along. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. Lee isn't kidding...I haven't been here long today but the question volume has increased quite a bit...
...anyhow do you happen to have another GFX besides the 8800GTX OC since overclocked cards tend to produce these effects? I wanted to see if another card causes the same issues
If you want to install XP to see if the issue occurs than go ahead (make sure to do appropiate backing up first...just in case) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compal JFT02 (Custom Build Laptop) OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 - Mac OS X 10.6.4 x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHz Motherboard JFT02 Memory 4GB Kingston DDR2-800 Graphics Card NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT (512MB Model) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays WUXGA Standard Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1680*1050 Keyboard Standard Laptop 105 Key-Keyboard Mouse Synaptics Touchpad PSU Standard Laptop Power Supply Case Standard Laptop Case Cooling Standard Laptop Cooling Hard Drives Toshiba 320GB 5400RPM Laptop HD Internet Speed Verizion Online DSL 3360/864 kbs (dl/up) |

Could someone change my name to KeithGS? D:
anyway..
Mm.. I don't have another card to test no.. I might just dual boot Windows XP and test it out instead... I gotta do something, because later today I have RMA ready for my card to get a replacement... (which will be a 260GTX because they dont make 8800GTX OC anymore, and it matches (the specs, so I'm happy about that ..but still..1-3 weeks without gaming == horrible)
EDIT: also updated my system specs.
EDIT 2: the 8800GTX OC is OC by stock (it came from the store OC) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ASUS / Custom build. EDIT 2: the 8800GTX OC is OC by stock (it came from the store OC) I understand that it is stock OC but the fact that it is OC warrants possible problems. If you already have Win 7 installed then dual booting with XP is not a good idea. Instead download Virtual Box or VM Ware Workstation and install XP into a virtual machine; this way if you want to remove XP at a later date it will be far easier. Also it will allow you to use legacy applications that may/may not run under Win 7.
At present I am using VM Ware's Workstation running XP, Vista, and two distros of Linux. Just something to think about. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. Installing the OS native is the only way (for testing) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compal JFT02 (Custom Build Laptop) OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 - Mac OS X 10.6.4 x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHz Motherboard JFT02 Memory 4GB Kingston DDR2-800 Graphics Card NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT (512MB Model) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays WUXGA Standard Laptop Display Screen Resolution 1680*1050 Keyboard Standard Laptop 105 Key-Keyboard Mouse Synaptics Touchpad PSU Standard Laptop Power Supply Case Standard Laptop Case Cooling Standard Laptop Cooling Hard Drives Toshiba 320GB 5400RPM Laptop HD Internet Speed Verizion Online DSL 3360/864 kbs (dl/up) |

EDIT: ^ what he said.
I use Virtualbox, I have 3 up right now :3 ..the problem is that it only allows 128MB of 3d memory, and call of duty 4 uses alot more than that. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ASUS / Custom build. Thanks "Zindane 24" that shows you what I know about gaming. Last game played was "Sim City 2000" back in 2000.

The kind of corruption seen in the screenshot usually is fixed by trying a different driver version and/or updating the game itself with a patch from the maker. Especially if other games are working well.
I seriously doubt the corruption type seen is due to overclocking from the manufacturer. The cards are tested thoroughly under many conditions by any reputable company and they wouldn't release it if there were problems from the clock speed. Plus, if they did, NVidia or ATI would not be very pleased.
That said, it is not impossible. You could always try to underclock the card to test.
You could try something if you feel like it. It won't help lol but it is easy enough to try so I'll tell you.
Right click on the shortcut you use to open the game or the .exe itself. Choose properties then compatibility tab. Check disable desktop composition.
This will eliminate Aero as being a possible cause because it will shut down DWM while the game is running and start it back up when it's closed.
This could also be due to a faulty no-cd type of crack from the release group. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 I don't know if this is 7 related our not.. problems?
