Around a year and a half ago, i bought a laptop for around 300, it has an amd a6 3420m(1.5ghz Quad Core) which i have now OC'D to 2.5ghz, it came with dual graphics, Amd HD Radeon 6520g+7470m, it ran the majority of new games on medium settings, now i can play about 50-60% of new games with 30+fps on low, upgrade the gpu, buy a decent hard drive and i think you will be ready to go with games on decent settings depending on the gpu you buy, good luck
