well, the minimum for that card is 450, and you have 475. so it comes to the question, how old is your PSU? PSU's degrade after some time, and they are something you DO NOT want to skimp on.
It's about 3.5 years old. Bought the PC in June 2010.
i would definitely get a better PSU. the corsair CX500 is a good PSU

thats my 2 cents. maybe someone who knows more about PSUs will jump in....
Would it be worth it to spend 10 more bucks for the 600w? Just to be sure? So with that and the card, after rebates I'd be looking at 230 to 250 bucks....if I don't also get another 8gb of RAM. I'd have to open up the pc to get the exact specs on the RAM, right, to make sure any new RAM will be compatible? I guess I could always just get a 8gb pair and take the 6 I have in there out....

if you would like to. 600w is fine. you can use newegg's RAM finder to find ram for ur PC. with the gtx 660, u will be able to play on medium to high settings at 1080p....

Thanks. There's nothing I'd have to worry about switching from the ATI card to the Nvidia, right? Other than uninstalling the Catalyst control center and the drivers for the 5870?

your PC might explode.... but its very rare. ive only seen it once. oh and some AMD fanboys might explode too.... but its only temporary.

lol naaa but yea just uninstall CCC. and use driver sweeper.

Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

TBH, i dont think you need more RAM. RAM has very little performance gain in games. so unless you are running out, theres no need for more. i was running bf3 with just 4gb on close to max settings with my 660 on 1600x900. so i would really say just upgrade the GPU and PSU.

you also have these 2 to choose from. i would say go with the 7870 or 270x. it has a better memory bus. 256bit as compared to the 192 on the 660

    ASUS HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com

    Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100364VXBF4L Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support OC BOOST Video Card w/BF4 Coupon

the difference between those 2 ^^^ are basically nothing. the 270x is newer however.

Ok, nice. I won't be able to order this stuff until after the New Year, so I'll wait and see what the prices look like next week.
