If I may a couple of points,

1. With your current motherboard Crossfire is not an option as the board only has one PCI-E 16x slot. It doesn't even have a full length slot at a slower speed (4x or 8x), so no place to put a second card.

2. That motherboard was actually never made to run the FX series of CPU's. All Asus did was change the socket change the bios so that it would work with them (they aren't the only ones, as all the other board manufacturers did the same thing), and using an older chipset on it. That is also another reason it won't support Crossfire as the chipset never supported it in the first place.

Really good points Stormy we actually narrowed it down to Internet speed

What you are telling us now though is very good information that would give him a real good idea of his hardware limits

I know my MOBO doesn't support crossfire,I just said that at one point in the future ,crossfire will be a option for me.
Also, what do you mean my MOBO wasn't made for FX CPU's? That sounds actually really interesting to me !

If it helps any this is your motherboard before Asus went and changed the socket from AM3 to AM3+,

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4...specifications

If you look at the CPU support list it only supports CPU's up to 95 watts. Your board is exactly the same and the only FX CPU's it supports are the 95 watt versions. Another thing they changed on it was the memory slots. The original used DD2 and yours uses DD3. Asus wasn't the only one to put out boards like this, all the other AMD motherboard manufacturers did the same thing.

Unfortunately that means that if you were ever inclined to upgrade your FX 4100 to any of the FX 8xxx series, you would also be looking at a new motherboard.

Well, that sucks....that means if I want to get a high end AMD FX cpu'd,i'd need to buy a brand new MOBO....
Well,I need to admit, that im happy with my current CPU / MOBO / RAM.I bought all of them for 290 USD,and all of them are new.
So yeah,I actually can't complain, because I was on a pretty low budget while I was getting all of these components.

Anyway,thanks for helping me

Will an AMD FX-6300 work with an AsRock N68C-GS FX
Hi All, As the title says, will an AMD FX-6300 processor work with an ASRock > N68C-GS FX motherboard? I'm planning to upgrade my system due to FPS drops whilst playing DOTA 2. I've concluded that since the FPS drops happen after several minutes while playing and seem to have nothing to do...

Stability issues. FX-6300 and . Frequent Freezes
Hello, I've got a machine that I think the only issue preventing stability are the BIOS settings. The machine will not run Prime95 without errors, and as soon as I bumped the voltage to the CPU it seemed to be more stable. I haven't really had BSOD's to analyze. I've got several logs from...

Could someone answer the following questions regarding the comparison of these two CPU's 1. Best value for money? 2. Personal opinion, which would you get? 3. Should I consider a lower end i5? 4. Which offers the best upgrade path? (consider steamroller and excavator)

cpubenchmarks.net says that the FX-6300 is better than the i5 3570k
I was just looking at random cpu's in cpubenchmarks.net and found something really interesting. The FX-6300 is 9 ranks and 301 points MORE than the 3570k. I thought that the FX-8350 was the AMD equivalent. Is it just me or is this actually true?...
