    lol, you will be :)

I played Doom 3 on the xbox in the dark with surround and loved it. So much atmosphere. And the first time a demon popped out of an already completed area - brilliant. Iirc, that was the first time I'd seen that mechanic incorporated a game.

And a lot of people hated the idea of using a torch and swapping for a weapon, but even though it was annoying at times - it just added an extra level of tension.

Resurrection changed that as well as being more "gun friendly" but it lost some of the atmosphere by doing so. I never did play those 2 on the PC with mods.

This new DOOM looks to be more focused on just shooting stuff. I do hope the new IdTech 6 engine is a bigger improvement over 5 though. At least visually. While not a bad engine, it's not that overwhelming.

I honestly did NOT like Doom 3 at all. It did not feel "Doomish" to me at all. Nothing in that game did.

Yeah, I can understand that. it was a Doom themed survival/horror game - not what DOOM was about which is run n gun. While i did enjoy the game for what it was, there was a large element of disappointment too. Hopefully this new one will be the true successor.

At least it was more DOOMish than that abortion of a movie "DOOM"... now THAT was a disappointment.

Duke Nuke'em was my favourite all the funny as hell one liners and gestures you would find whilst interacting with objects for me was just as entertaining as the fast paced game play... There is a portable app called Cube Portable that emulates Doom/Quake gameplay and other mods that include a Counter Strike type game.. It's all quite good and worth checking out if your into that stuff

    +1 for me too...

Being said that, this last game was a piece of poo IMO and I did not even finish it on Normal

I played and enjoy the original Doom but none after that one, they got too scary for me... yes, am a little yeller when it comes to horror/terror
