You can still install games via the disk, but you will have to activate it through Steam tih the product key on the packaging. That helps out people with slow/limited connections and helps in the battle against piracy.

I guess there aren't many games on Steam like that, or are they?

Any game that comes in hard copy that has to be registered to Steam can be done like that.

You're never going to stop criminality either but that doesn't mean we should stop trying. At any rate piracy wasn't the point of my post
And what about selling broken games and not be able to refund even if game is not what it suppose to be or just not working? that's not criminal activity?

And it was proven over and over that nothing can stop piracy only legal customers are hindered by it.

The best part is if they released demos most titles would not sell any wayso people use piracy as testing means since you can't trust bribed reviewers and fake trailers.

In this all i still think it's common people who gt kicked hardest since they can't make such noise as big companies who profit anyway.

I'm not going to get into a debate with you on piracy. I have my feelings and you have yours. However you've decided to use my post as a launching pad to promote your feelings when the overall tenor of my post had noting to do with piracy, but the way store bought games are handled through Steam. Yeah, I mentioned piracy, but that wasn't the point of my post...

Yeah, it kind of sucks as its the new way things are going now in an effort to stem piracy. I remember when I bought the physical disk for FEAR 3 and got a big fat surprise when the game started downloading from Steam. I wasn't surprised about Steam itself, just the fact that though I had the physical disk, It still needed to be downloaded from Steam. I was like WTH!?!?

Man I feel for those with slow or limited bandwidth.
In short, you're taking this in an area not intended, and thus sidetracking the thread.

Hmmm... kind of bored right now as I don't see anything out there for me. Was playing Borderlands 2 single player mode, but that has gotten extremely boring as its all about fetch and get.

The game I'm really waiting for is Dragon Age Inquisition as I'm a huge DA fan. Until than I might go back an revisit DA 1 or 2 again.

    Anyway
