This marketing system is borderline abusive, my hat's off to the whomever came up with it because it hit the nail right in the head. Amazing the amount of people who spend money just to get to a higher tier or XP or whatever w/o braking a sweat. The amount of kids playing Rated R games is just out of this world and amazingly enough, are the ones ruining it for everybody else... the days where you paid for a game, took it home and play it fully are totally gone.

RANT INCOMING!!!

One could argue that the DLC system for delivering additional content is the "revolution" of expansion packs. In the age where having internet is like having running water, delivering updates and bugfixes puts less strain on the developers to make that "perfect build of the game" and release it - expansion packs shrinked in size because of that, eventually excluding anything but additional content.

Eventually, developers figured out that the additional content can be released in small chunks over time to keep the player playing and the payers paying; the F2P model is the perfect example for that. Not only have developers become greedy over time, but also very lazy - over time, it was about getting your game played as soon as possible and by as much people as possible, instead of pursuing quality of the game you're developing.

I was finally convinced that the F2P as well as the "early access" model need to die and burn in hell for all eternity when I played some very heavy "pay us to get better" or "you can only RENT this" F2P games, and one particular example of an early access game: The Forest.

Just how despicable a developer needs to get in order to compete with high profile developer studios with big publishers? Build an alpha of a new game that's barely playable, charge $30 for it instead of $60, and call it "early access", "exclusive chance to get involved with the development and" blah blah blah...

You gotta be f*****g kidding me! The PC community has become nothing but volunteer beta testers for lazy and greedy developers who don't want to spend the time to just deliver a good game and make gamers excited - instead they rely on dirty tricks and petty marketing campaigns, all for the purpose of reducing the amount of pirated copies floating around.

I'm gonna keep this short (as if I did so already, lol) and just mention one good example, a golden one at that, that is the exception: The Witcher franchise. Those games were amazing, and hard copies included so many perks and pleasantries, it was hard NOT to buy them. Sure, piracy is always there and there will always be people who can't afford it (or don't want to) - but Projekt Red had the traditional mindset of releasing games and now the Witcher franchise is probably one of THE BEST modern RPG franchises from someone who's not EA...

And now I gotta go to work or I'll be late lol

I totally agree with you... I don't like F2P titles as well as I never even bothered to waste my hard earned money on the Early Access I actually don't care about involving in with the lazy devs! why are they making games by charging games and beta testing them by users? there are other ways to test the product before launching for example forums and specific communities for the related upcoming title. Developers have forgot that not every Country is UK or USA or EU Countries where online gameplay are lag free and have lowest latencies/pings where every one can actually enjoy instead people like me can't experience anything good by sitting like ducks here and connecting to US or EU servers.. if they want everyone play there MP content or F2P titles from all around the world so why don't they just deploy servers near those countries too? I hate MP games and connectivity and laggy gameplay is the main reason why I hate them.

and yes MicroTransactions is another lame reason to earn money and constantly releasing patches every day for instance Dota2 beloved by millions of users.. that game literally updates on steam every single day. I'm ok with DLC but it would've been nice if it was just like the good old days where you could actually spend plenty of time in Expansions.

Agree with you but now, we also have to agree that, at some point, this was developed because of the sheep/lemming mentality of people, otherwise, it would have died in less time that it took a dev to launch the idea. What Can you say about a company that spends 10 Million dollars hiring Real human actors to make a less than 10 minute movie about a game you will launch soon and the game was broken at the time it was launched?

What is more important though is, what can you say about the people that went a$$ first and bought the game without even asking about a return policy or warranty or guarantees? How about that or those guys that went to the dedicated forum, saw the amount of hate posts and still ask whether people think if it was ok for him to purchase the said broken game? I don't get it. It seems the world economy is just BS because I still see people driving brand new cars, next-gen consoles to play broken non-next gen games and then they tell you that they are going bankrupt because they lost their jobs 2 years ago!

Argghhh, man, I said I was not going to get sucked into this but I couldn't help it... my bad people, I apologize!

Playing Deadlight and loving every second of it. It's kinda hard, too.
And I've gone back to Warframe, haven't seen even a screenshot of it since February, and it's better than ever. The "pay us to NOT grind" system is still here, unfortunately, but at least it's better than "pay to win" since Warframe focuses more on teamplay, which is why I liked it in the first place.
