Saving up for a PS3 now but after my friend pointed out,i can now afford r9 290 as well so confused -_- Playing l4D2 and The dark demonicon right now
I would wait on the ps3, They will get even cheaper as time goes on cause of the ps4. As well as the games. And don't buy the new ps3 12GB edition one. Its made kinda flimsy and 12GB fills up quick. Try and buy a ps3 slim with 120GB hdd or more.

Or go for the launch ps3 so you can also play ps2 games on it.

Note: You can always upgrade the HDD in the ps3 as well as the ps4.
Or can't you use a ssd?

Sure, but they don't make as much as a difference compared to a computer. I would save some money and get more storage. Storage is what you should care about most in a console imho.

    Other side of argument:

Consoles are basic input out put devices Hard drive would make more sense

There is a lot of information to be saved and backed up data that the PS1 or PS2 can't do so i would go that route as well because it will be the same speed only thing that would disrupt it is internet connection speed

In the article it clarify that install speeds were longer so there is a downside which means the Playstation doesn't have the ability to fully use that tech yet so stick to the HHD 2 TB and you will be smooth sailing

"Last visited on 28 June". Man. Just popped in to look up a WMP sync issue, no big. Currently I'm playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut. Seems a tad less stable than the original game, had a hang occur twice over the week. Mostly got it due to the insertion of the Missing Link DLC missions and the reworked boss battles, as well as generally wanting to play the game again.

Your current card is fine, don't really need to upgrade imo. I say just get a ps3 with it or something else.

Like Miguel said no need if you go to the Firestrike benchmarks my 7970 caught up to a 290 little more tweeking probably could beat it but also i was using Lucid MVP too

Actually i forgot to change the specs,i have a 7870XT now,it IS faster then 660ti and most GTX 760's as well, as it has the same tahiti chip as 7970. I have maxed out many games on it like BF4,NFS rivals etc but it never hurts to have a bigger card :)

    ......i bought the PS3 2 days ago
Well it was pretty cheap, bought the 320GB model (was a little used but has a huge games collection with it),costs 223$ exactly. The seller has GTA 5,last of us,journey and many PS3 exclusives in his account and he gave it with the console :)
I will get it tomorrow as he is downloading Last of us for me (pretty big and i have a slow connection)
And i did own a PS2 as well untill 4 years ago, have played all the worth playing games :)
I did check the new slims as well, there are going for as low as 190$ here (the 500GB models) but Dat cheap plastic just didnt agree with me.
And i was planning to wait but i will be getting a month off from university in a week and needed something to pass the time as i am extremely lazy in cold (so much so that i dont even feel like sitting up right and holding a KB/Mouse) so bought the console for good old fashioned gaming :)
The prices here wont drop that much as Sony didnt abandon the PS3 like MS did x360,many games are still coming for the PS3 and there are MANY here already. Although the PS4 and xbox did drop from 760$ to to almost 600$ in a month.

Ya the ps3 isn't abandoned. Sony stated they will continue to support it for a long time.
I guess that's not too bad a price if a lot of games are included.
And you got a 320GB model so its worth it.
$199 is the cost of a new on in the US here.

Yea, SSD in a PS3 or 4 doesn't make much sense. You simply do not gain much to justify the cost. Especially if your a PS Plus subscriber or buy a lot of digital stuff, a SSD is just too costly in a Playstation.

I just got a WD 500GB Blue for my PS3 and its plenty of space. maybe pick up a 160GB Slim, and upgrade the HD later for an extra $60 or so.

The PS4 on the other hand really needs at least a 1 TB drive. At 30-50GB per game it eats up a 500GB drive fast.
