    macbook pro choke/fps drop

Okay, I got a choke/lagg problem in CSS on my Macbook pro windows 7 Professional 64 bit. On XP CSS runs perfectly, but on 7 I get a choke/lagg problem.
    This is the problem:
I join a server and the game runs smooth and I have a fps around 50-60. But suddenly (I don't know why...) my game gets really laggy (fps drops to 10-20) and it is unplayable. Then I'll close the game and if I wait a minute and start the game again it is gone, but then the problem will occur again after an unknown time period. I tried the MMCSS 'fix' and network throttling 'fix', but it didn't help. Also I tried this: Reduce game network latency in Windows 7 or Vista « Life & Code

All of this didn't help and I 'love' windows 7 and don't want to return to XP, but if it is the only solution, I will install XP. But does anyone know a fix for this, I would really appreciate it if anyone would help me.

    Cheers

Mistake one is you said you have a Mac Book... Windows forum... (I know you are running seven)

Anyway... have you tried something as simple as updating the network, chip set, and audio drivers?

i am new beginner of windows 7 and also new for this forum. I don't how to publish my problem so that everybody can see and help. I have a problem that is so complicated for me. I really really hope and I am begging that someone can solve it. I just formatted my netbook compact Presario CQ40 from Windows Vista to Windows 7. There is so many problem occurs. But the biggest problem is my netbook is unable to read certain DVD copies for example the burned DVD. The situation might be a little bit confusing but I'll try to explain more detail. My netbook can't read the cheap DVD that are used to burn something. But if DVD's like Windows 7, Games DVD, Movie DVD, no problem! But if the burned DVD for example, my netbook can't read it. It is just like doing nothing when I insert the cheap DVD. Nothing happens.I hope readers will understand my English and also my problem. I don't know how to explain but I think it is something more like it. I really hope that someone will read this and help me pleaseee....I really don't know what to do.

Not trying to harsh your mello bro but you posted this in the wrong forums. This is the gaming help section, more specifically the gaming lag issues in windows 7 thread. You might ask a moderator to move your post to the appropriate venue where you will stand a much better chance at getting help.

There is already a thread dedicated to this issue. Please check and post your problem in this thread... Have a great week!

When I have desktop gadgets enabled I experience lag. Make sure your video drivers are updated to the latest revision also.

Maybe even disable Aero before you begin the game.

For those who have Nvidia mainbord chipset (nForce) I suggest installing chipset drivers from Nvidia page not from mainboard manufacturer's. The thing is that those drivers give You quite advanced network panel which allows You to modify Your network card behaviour and maybe some of those settings will help all of us with the problem (like combining 2 cards into one for better performance)

I experienced this issue with CS:Source when the new updates rolled out. Everything seemed slow and not smooth at all. I forget what I did to fix this but since I just build a new machine with windows 7 and installed Source ill post back here if I have the same issue.

Hello Im David and I just registered cause i think i need to share my new discovery of my solved lagging problem in Windows 7 x64.

I've read every single page, every single riplies of this thread. I've tried to fix the registry and tried to disable MMCCS service but I couldnt solve my lagging problem yet. I'm playing an online dancing game ( like DDR ) which required a high FPS. It works good on XP but not in win7 x32 ( it always crashes and the blue screen of death often appears ). It runs on win7x64 but.. there was one problem, the FPS dropped very high. Besides following the advises i found in this forum, I've tried other ways like modifying 3D and display properties via CCC ( Im using radeon HD 5570 ). But nothing happened , T_T.

After almost 7 hours I nearly got desperated, I don't know, I found something by coincidence. If you are using Catalyst Control Centre, you should try this :

Go to Video option : Graphic >> Video >> Presets ( while you are playing the game , just do alt+tab if you are in full screen ). Uncheck/Check the box next to "Use Application Settings" and then apply. Then your game FPS will magically increases ! But don't close the CCC box, you can minimize it since if you close the CCC box, the game FPS will drops again.

Ok its just a little sharing from me, I don't know, but it works very very very fine with me. I don't know what is the connection between changing the check box and applying it and not closing the ccc box with the FPS. But it really works !

    Goodday!
