Sims 1 won't even install on my computer

I have an old Sims 1 cd that runs fine on my husband's computer (and we both have Windows 7), but when I insert it into my computer it makes loud spinning noises and then the box appears where I can choose to run it or open the folder, and when I choose to run it, there are the loud spinning noises again that last for a little bit then stop and nothing happens. It is not installed, I can't even get to that point. I've tried opening it in compatibility mode, but I might be doing that wrong. DVD's work fine, so it's not my cd drive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi, welcome to forums.

If the issue is not with DVD, then you can make an ISO from the DVD and run the ISO on your PC. It's always better to keep ISO for such DVDs which might have issues.

You can check out this link on how to do the same. How To Create an ISO Image From a CD (or DVD or BD)

After you have the ISO, mount that ISO with Power ISO and right click on the exe file and go to compatibility. Select Win XP (just XP, no SP1 or anything) and run the program and Admin. Now install the game.

If it makes loud noises on 1 computer but not the other, it could very well be your CD-Rom not working correctly and not the CD/DVD itself.

Have you tried copying the CD/DVD content to a temp folder on your C:\ Drive and running the installation from there?
