FIFA 09 don't work with Windows 7. What can I do?

    HELP!

I got a Windows 7 computer recently and found today that FIFA 09 don't work with Windows 7. Everything is screwed up. The players have long hands that reaches the ground and when I try to launch the FIFAmania addon, I get a lot of error messages and still the long hands and Frankenstein looking moves from the players. Horrible! I've tried with Windows XP compability but still the same result.

    What can I do?

Is there a way to make FIFA 09 work on Windows 7? Some patch or something?

I'm terrible annoyed since I'd really enjoyed FIFA 09 and the FIFAmania patch. Now, with my new Windows 7 computer, I can't play FIFA 09 anymore and those lazy, greedy idiots at EA sports can't even come up with a patch which makes this relatively new game work.

Not to mention all the work I've been doing with kits, correct team rosters, banners and all that for the last 3 years. Now, everything is wasted and I have to start from scratch again.

And everywhere I look on different forum, I can't find something to replace my 09 game with. Lots of problems with editors and no WC patch as good as FIFAmania 09. And will FIFA 11, 12, 13 or 14 work on Windows 7?

If I have to buy a newer game, which one is to reccommend? I'm looking for a game with a reliable editor and with lots of national teams (I don't care that much for the leagues, I only play one or two of them occasionally). Is there some good World Cup patch for any of the games newer than FIFA 09?

Most of all I want my FIFA 09 back and working perfectly.

Sorry for my bad mood but I've spent the whole night trying to get FIFA 09 to work in a proper way, looking for patches, fixes, anything which could save the day, and nothing! Now I'm just angry and tired.

    Hi!
    Thanks for reply.

Unfortunately the thread you suggested didn't give me anything worth of information. Too many if's and what's. I'm no expert so I don't want to mess with graphic cards settings or any settings at all without exact information about what I should do to solve a certain problem.

Besides that, the thread is very old which seems to indicate that no one has solved the problem and no one cares.

The only thing I found useful was the picture on top of this threadFifa 09 Graphics Error which clearly shows the problems I'm facing.

Ok, first thing first, you have almost all of your system specs filled out but not all... nonetheless, we will start small and see if we can get you going.

Can you get to your Device Manager and give us the dates and version of both your audio and video drivers?

Also, can you tell us exactly how you installed the game, the more info the better, don't be shy... did you skip any installation the game told you to do, like DirectX, C++, etc?

Sometimes, the installation of a game can corrupt your drivers so knowing how new or old they are is a good thing. We may not be able to fix your issue but it worth a try.

    OK, here we go.

    Realtek Semiconductor Corp: Drivers 2012-07-03

NVidia High Definition Audio. Drivers: 2012-07-03

Just have to add that the sound works fine in FIFA 09.

    Other specifications:

Computer box: Chieftec Mesh CT-01 500W

    Mother card: Asus B75M-Plus B75 s.1155

    Processor : Intel Core i5-3340 3,1Ghz

Intern memory : 8 GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator

Hard drives (2 drives): 120 SSD Samsung, 2TB Seagate

    CD-rom: DVD Burner Asus

Graphic Card nvidia gtx 650ti, drivers 2012-09-06

    In-built sound card

    In-built network card

    Windows 7 HP 64

As for the installation, I did everything according to the instructions. The only difference is that I installed the game on my G drive instead of C drive. I've done that on Windows XP and it has worked fine, it also works fine with NHL 2004 and NHL 08 on Windows 7.

Note also that this is an old problem. If you look at my previous post, you will find a link to another thread on this forum, at

Ok, clearly both your audio and video drivers are outdated and perhaps, part of the problem you are having.

First, you want to download Nvidia Geforce Experience from here... Download GeForce Experience | NVIDIA | GeForce

Second, download the latest Realtek HD audio drivers from here... Realtek R2.73 maake sure you get the 64 bit drivers.

Download them both to a temp folder you can get to it later...

Go to Control Panel, then Programs and Features and uninstall your game completely, after this is done, scroll down and uninstall your Realtek High Definition Drivers as well... do not restart if it asks you

Go to the folder and Right Click on the Nvidia Geforce Experience file and Run as an Administrator... as soon as it is done, open it and go to the download tabs and update your driver, click on the Clean Sweep or clean install... restart even if it does not asks you.

Once you are back on your desktop (Give it a couple of minutes as it will install generic audio drivers and you won't even know it), go back to the temp folder and right click on the Realtek file and Run as an Administrator, let if finish and restart again for good measure, even if it does not asks you.

Once back in your desktop... Insert your game and install it again, on your G drive or aywhere else you want but just make sure you follow all of the instructions, if it asks you to install DirectX, do so... same for anything else.

Test the game but first, go to the Game Options and make sure you have the video resolution settings to the same settings as your native monitor settings are... if not, manually change them to it. Also, play with the vertical sync (enable or disable) on the game options if at first, your issue is still there.

Perhaps also you should also patch the game to the latest revision, sometimes game do this automatically.

Well, good luck and lets hope that is all it takes... come back and let us know

    I'm sorry, it didn't work.

I did everything you recommended. I followed the instructions exactly as you told me and still the same result.

There were the players with their long fingers, stretched out arms and Frankenstein movements, just out of some horror movie. I strongly hope that I never, ever have to see something like that again.

There is obviously nothing more to do.

Observe that I didn't run any modded versions. All my tests, including this last one have been made with the original game.

Fortunately I have two hockey games which runs perfect.

As for this soccer game, I guess I have to buy a newer version (if it can be run on Windows 7) with a faint hope that it will be as good as this old on (EA have a peculiar habit of coming up with some terrible crap game every second year or so, I still cringe when I think of NHL 07 with its worthless goalies and games ending 12-10, 15-9 and so on).

And that some friendly soul will come up with a good, playable World Cup patch (something I sincerely doubt, considering my search for something similar these days).

Or maybe I rather buy a boxing game or some UFC fighting game (if there is something like that) and mod it myself to have some EA hotshots beating the s*** out of each other. Now that would be fun.

The only positive thing about this is that I got my drivers updated. I do have Avast Antivirus which constantly warns me about outdated drivers but not this time. Maybe because the computer is new, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks a lot for a sincere attempt to help me with this issue.

If you don't mind doing some legwork, do you mind posting your monitor Brand and Model?

Also, post a screenie of your monitor native resolution... on your desktop, right click anywhere where there isn't an icon and then click on Screen Resolution. Win 7 has the Snipping Tool, which you can use to make a screen of the object and save it as a png image. Upload it here like I have done.

Do the same thing with the Game Video Options, although, here you will have to use "Prt Scr" button as Snipping Tool will not work. Then open up Paint (under your accessories) and Paste it here, save as png or jpg, whatever is available.

I can not imagine EA or whomever made this game supporting such an issue, perhaps you should also try to go to the game's forum to see what people have to say about it and if there is/was a fix for it.

Oh, just for good measure, on your Device Manager under Display Adapters, what is your primary video card?

    ^^

Here's the screenshot of my monitor native resolution.

My monitor is a Benq Bl902 which has been working perfectly on Windows XP.

Unfortunately I uninstalled the game in an act of frustration but I have the same settings for the game screen which is 1280x1024. It works perfect with NHL 08 and NHL 2004 and did work perfect for FIFA 09 in Windows XP.

I'm not sure about the last question. Nvidia gtx 650ti is the only card I find on my computer.

As for the game's forum, the problem is well known about the gamers. Obviously there was a lot of debate over this issue in 2009-10 but then it all died out. I didn't notice this problem at that time because I was still having an Windows XP computer and was also sure that every problem concerning Windows 7 compability would be sorted out in some way. I mean, the game is FIFA 09 and Windows 7 did arrive in 2009 or 10.

What actually annoys me is that no one had even tried to come up with a solution, not EA Sports and not the gaming community. Adressing this site was for me the last attempt to find a solution since the problem obviously was discussed here some time ago.

I am sorry as well, I don't give up that easy but sometimes, defeat is better than continuous frustration for something that does not work.

Now, depending on the Win 7 64bit you have, you may be able to install Windows XP Virtual and see if you can install the game there, if anything, it will give you time to learn something new and you will enjoy the frustration better
