    Portal 2 Randomly Closes

I sometimes find myself playing Portal 2, getting really into the game and then 'poof,' the game closes and I have to open it back up again. There are no error messages, event viewer shows absolutely nothing wrong, the temps are all fine and dandy (Around 70 with max settings is pretty standard), all my drivers are up to date, watching my memory as I play and there is still plenty of space (Don't think Portal 2 will take away my 8GB). I play with an xbox 360 wireless controller if that makes any difference. There aren't any artifacts, nothing odd or out of the norm other than the music freezing for the second it takes to close. It's usually a random time between 10-30 minutes into the gameplay and if I can pass that 30 minute mark then I'm fine.

    This is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2YewQ

    I'm using windows 7 ultimate (64 bit)...

Anything else you guys need feel free to ask! Thanks!

Try Verifying Integrity of game cache, you can do that by right clicking portal 2 in the steam library then going to properties by right clicking portal 2. Then go to the local files tab and there should be a section called "Verify Integrity of game cache" and click it. Steam will check to see if you have any files missing or broken files and will fix/redownload files of which ever it finds corrupted/missing. It's worth a try and could be the cause possibly with the random crashing without any error window.

I've done that before and it didn't fix anything, so yeah I really don't know.

Try resetting the games settings to default, go to properties again and put -autoconfig in set launch options then launch the game then remove it from set launch options.

Try resetting the game settings or reinstall it.
