freecell is sluggish after reinstallation of win 7

Hello everyone, I am sadelsor and live in south china.

    I have a Lenovo B500 idealcentre.
    Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit
I have just reinstalled windows 7 etc, when I try to play freecell I get a window saying the hardware accelerator is not working, and freecell is sluggish, I have had this same problem the last time I formatted.

I cannot remember what file I down loaded to fix it
was it a video card or vga file I just cannot remember, I know its a simple solution, but what file do I need to get freecell back up to speed ??

    Sadelsor

Have you downloaded all drivers? Please download the latest driver on Drivers and software - IdeaCentre B500 All-In-One under Video that is the right one for your system. Use this to check: System Info - See Your System Specs

I downloaded the first one on the list for my system, ATI discrete graphic driver, made no difference, if I remember correctly last time I fixed this with a third party download, not via Lenovo

Try the System Spec program to check. Your laptop may not have a ATI video card, which may be causing the problem.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre should have an Nvidia GPU and Intel CPU. All the one's I've ever seen have had a GT 240M or 250M and a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400S CPU. You shouldn't install any ATI drivers.

I doubt it's your drivers. It's probably how old Freecell is. It's a holdover from the days of Windows XP.

Try to run the game in XP mode. Windows 7 and Vista render everything in DX9 and that causes issues with some older games like Freecell. Right click on the game exe or shortcut and click on the compatibility tab and change it to XP compatibility mode.

Another possible fix is to use the Windows Classic theme instead of an Aero theme. You can change this in your display settings.

Another strange fix involves turning on the multiple displays settings. Just set it up so that both displays show the same screen. For some reason this has cleared up the issue with Freecell for some people.

Freecell is part of Windows. If you downloaded it, stop using that version and do turn on games Where are my games? - Microsoft Windows Help and go in your start menu-all programs and it should be in the folder games.

my system is a Lenovo all in one, I have had this for 4 years, this is the second time I have re installed win 7, I had exactly the same problem last time, I did find a driver online but cannot remember where I got it from, so I assume all the hardware is intact.
