    GTA IV Crashing

im using windows 7 build 7600 x64, and whenever i try playing gta IV, the game crashes after about 30 minutes. I have no idea why it happens, after a certain amount of time, my monitor just goes black all the sudden and says "input not supported" and the system locks up, so i have to shut my computer off manually by holding the power button.. one time it even gave me a BSOD. Any idea why this is happening?

    Specs:
    2 radeon 4870's
    core i7 950 (non oc'd)
    6 gb corsair ddr3 ram
    750 gb hd
    3 24 inch aoc moniters

GTAIV in general is a very buggy game. Before I installed 7, I was recieving sparadicly low-high FPS and crashing on my 'mid-high' end system. There could be no issue, it may just be the stability issues in GTAIV that is causing your problem. Your system is great, the only possible hardware-related issue I see is your graphic cards. Do you have the latest Catalyst drivers? Are the cards running cool enough?

yeah, i have the latest drivers, however you could be right about the graphics cards heat. they do tend to run very hot.

Yeah, use a GPU/CPU temp program such as Speedfan. Report back with your Temperature, then we can start narrowing down what the problem might be.

Ok here are my results. They might not be completely accurate as the parts get hotter while the game is playing.

Have you installed the latest patch?
Cause those patches were meant to fix VGA's Problem, mainly for ATI.

I don't know how to check, but if you don't know you probably haven't installed it yet. Go into the official GTA IV Website and download the lastest update and install it. Rockstar Games: Grand Theft Auto IV

Search there, i think the latest version is 1.0.4.0 .

And just to be sure, try setting the coolers to run at 100% while your running the game, to discard the chance of being a heat problem, which i don't think is the case

    edit: http://www.rockstargames.com/downloa...s/getPatches/9 link to patch
