Windows highlight color changes when playing Diablo 1 in battle.net

Hello. You know the rectangle that appears when you drag the cursor in the desktop? When I play Diablo (the original) in battle.net and exit the game the highlight color changes from the normal dark blue to a very bright cyan/bright green mixed with blue/what ever the color is. And it applies to everywhere. From highlighting the text in icons and also web browser menus (such as the browser history window). Is there any way I can prevent this from happening and if I can't prevent it is there any way I can change it back to normal? I've applied an unofficial Diablo fix and the official 1.09b patch and also the official x64 registry fix from blizzard ftp which fixes the in-game color problem. It only happens when I play multiplayer (battle.net) and not singleplayer. Singleplayer is totally fine. It only goes back to normal when I restart my PC. But I don't want to do that every time I want to play. Google search brings up nothing, I've tried.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and thank you for any help and suggestions.
