Two Games (LOTRO & SKYRIM) fail to launch...
I have played Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) for the past couple years and at several instances during this time for some reason it has refused to launch after successfully launching in the past. The only way I could rectify this problem was to do a fresh re-install of Windows 7 (done this 3 times over the past 2 years). I finally gave up on LOTRO when it started back to refusing to launch about 1 month ago. All my other games were working fine.
Now the problem was shown up with another game, SKYRIM (no mods, fresh install). I just bought Skyrim on STEAM. The launch window opens for the game, I hit play, then the launch window closes and nothing happens. I'm now wondering if it is the same issue that LOTRO is having.
I am able to launch other games without any problems, like all the Blizzard games, Dirt 3 (through Steam), Alan Wake (Steam), Planetside, Star Wars the Old Republic, its just Skyrim and Lotro that load the launch screens and once Play or Connect is clicked, the games fail to launch.
From some past reading regarding LOTRO launching issues I thought maybe it has to do with the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, but being that I am not too savvy on this I'm not sure which direction to go now. Just would like to avoid a fourth reinstall of Windows 7.
Thanks for any help. I have check my graphics drivers and everything appears to be updated.
