Problem with XBOX 360 wireless controller

    Hello,

I'm unable to connect my XBOX 360 controller to PC.

When I connect to different USB ports I get no green light on the receiver and it's not showing in Device Manager.

When I try to reinstall the software/drivers from CD, it says it's already installed and suggests removing it before reinstallation. However I'm unable to find XBOX accessories on the list of installed programs and have no idea how to find it otherwise to remove. This controller used to work just fine like a year ago, I don't know what's going on now.

Hi Zydd, I use the same setup as yourself, in device manager, your wireless receiver should show up under "Microsoft common controller for windows class" and under there should be "Xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows" as shown in the screenshot below:

however, your device might not be drawing enough power to efficiently work the way you wanted or intended, you can check this by going to device manager and going to "Universal serial bus controllers" and look for USB root hub and right click > properties > power, if it's drawing less than 260 mA then you will need to find a port which supports USB 2.0 at 500 mA.

    Hello Mr. Needs

The problem is I'm unable to find "Xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows" in the Device Manager. Still when I try to run a fresh installation of Xbox Accessories/drivers, it says that I need to uninstall the old one first however I cannot find it on the program list either.

I understand Zydd, but the driver won't load if it's not got enough power, it's a hungry horse this wireless receiver I would suggest trying a USB port at the back of your computer that is rated for 500mA, if the xbox accessories program is reporting that you've already installed then it will be fine to leave that installed, the problem is detection of the accessory itself.

If your device does not light up period it has this issue most likely and that fuse needs to be bypassed (this happened to mine). https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...AEN6PGjXkECpZQ http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...windows-fault/ It's a fairly common problem unfortunately. Even if its not installed but working it should light up if you click the button on it.
