    Laptop freezes while gaming

I've got a Lenovo Y560. I play FIFA 14 on it. I use an XBOX 360 wired controller to do so.
Almost every 15-20 minutes, the game freezes; my whole computer does and there's just this static that can be heard through the earphones.
Could my graphics card be overheating? And should I stop playing until this issue is resolved?
I have to force shut the laptop everytime this happens, by holding down the power button.

I would lean towards heat being the issue first as you can game for awhile then bang nothing. When was the last time you opened the lappy up and cleaned it? Also are making sure a good cool air flow is available while you game?

Yup. I'm gonna go clean that hunk of metal right now.
    Will keep you updated. Thanks.

They do tend to run hot but add dust bunnies and such and the temps could spike quickly while gaming and then just go into protection mode.....or worse. You may want to look into a laptop riser or cooler. I use a riser with a wireless keyboard and mouse !

A simple laptop cooler has extended the life of a couple of my older laptops that I only use sparingly. I even use them on my new laptop just for the extra airflow, nothing wrong with being too careful.
