why wont civ5 recognise mouse in d11 but does in x9?

Hi all. Forgive the typos. It's autocorrect gone mad!! I have two gt x 760 in slipstream configuration but whenever I try to play civil 5 in d11 , the keyboard and mouse go dead. Then after a while the mouse cursor shows up but the screen is blank. Seems to work in x9 mode. Don.t really wanna have to uninstall, reinstall and register the whole thing (its a 10 GB file), anyone else had similar issues? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Care to explain what "slipstream configuration" is?

I've heard of SLI (Scalable Link Interface) for NVidia, Crossfire for AMD, but never slipstream configuration.

Also, what's Civil 5? Are we talking about Civilization 5?

As to your DX11 issue, it sounds like a weird one.

    - Where did you get the game from?
    - It is patched,
    - Do you have the latest updates for your video card?
    - Does the soundcard have the latest update as well?

    Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It is a s.l.I configuration but autocorrect turned it into slipstream!! But yeah, no problem in d.x 9 yet unplayable in d.x 11. I'm running win 7 home premium 64 bit. I agree ,it is quite weird . I should point out that I only got the computer yesterday (19-12) so hopefully it's just a teething problem. If anybody could give me a pointer as to how to resolve this I'd be grateful. Thanks

    Edit:

    The game is civilization 5

I got it from amazon but it's new not used.

It went through the steam registration process fine

I'm using onboard sound through h.d.m.I so.no speakers, but that's all fine

I'm sure tbe video card is fully updated.

And just to make things a bit stranger, far cry 4 plays with all settings at max with no issues??!

Also, I've tried with both a wired and wireless mouse and it hasn't made any difference

I've no idea where to begin other than say try updating your DX files - DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer. Steam should have done this but...

You might also look into updating your mouse & keyboard drivers. Again, this is one of those issues that makes no sense...

It almost sound like the system is being over tasked in DX11 mode, but works fine in 9. Just never seen or heard anything like this where the keyboard and mouse is affected

Anyway try updating mouse/KB drivers as well as DX. You might also look to the NVidia forums for drivers issues, particularly with regards to SLI. I've seen way too many game issue with multi-GPU setups and drivers.

    Good luck.

Thanks. Gonna try those things. Will post back in due course. Just can't work out how far cry 4 is flawless. Might end up reinstalling civilization 5 if nothing else works. Cheers tho

It would be helpful for those that are trying to help you if you filled in your system specs correctly.
This tutorial by Brink will help you to do that.

    Woot! Problem solved.

Thanks Cygnus21 for ur help, it was indeed a weird one. Although the fix was quite simple.

Turns out that civ5(in dx11) doesn't play nice with mouse trailer on !Disabled that and it's all good.

    Cheers guys :)
