Print Screen not capturing in-game shots

As the title says i am having problem with my print screen function. Sorry if i posted on the wrong section and sorry for the bla bla bla that will follow but i am telling you details so peps who try to help me don't run around in circles.

Background: I play games and for many reasons i need screens shots of them. I always used 'Print Screen' to get them. 'Print Screen' > somehow minimize the game and paste it into 'Paint'. This method was good, even though annoying. Until 2 days ago..

Problem: Every time i try to get a screen shot with the above method i either get a black screen or my desktop! Not the game. I tried every combo i read on my 2 day safari on Google Search (Fn+PrtSc, Alt+PrtSc etc) but nothing works..

Most of the times i type blind or super fast, so i thought i might have hit a wrong key combo and did something. Is it me? And more importantly how can i fix it? Maybe i can use another software? I have heard Fraps is good..

Case in point: I am playing a game and took a screen through PrtSc and it did not work: It sees the game but can't capture while it is on screen. It gets everything 'behind' it..

Thanks in advance for any and all help! :)

Hi .... Fraps is a better Solution can take a screenshot with the press of a key..

There's no need to paste into a paint program every time you want a new shot...

Your screen captures are automatically named and timestamped.

    - probably easier to use a camera
    - even a mobile phone will take a decent picture..

If you are just getting the images of your desktop, or just a solid black image, try taking your game out of fullscreen. Generally the setting would be under a "settings" or "options" menu, changing it to windowed (temporarily) or "borderless" is even better.

Also, when taking screen shots, remember that you can do "Alt + PrtSc" to screenshot only the main selected window.
