Fallout 3 issue with N version

After looking on the web for hours i found nothing to correct my issue.

Issue: Fallout starts up but closes after the "please wait" slide shows for a few seconds.

The correction for this issue lies in the fact that certain .dll files are missing, more importantly: Windows media .dll files.

after installing windows media player, fallout worked like a charm.

P.S. Microsoft please fix this problem, because i still would like my N version to work as intended.

Um, I a little confused by your statement "after installing windows media player, fallout worked like a charm." because unless I missed something, Windows Media Player IS installed with the initial installation of Windows, it may need to be configured once you start it for the first time, but it is there.

As for Fallout 3, the only thing I had to do was install Games For Windows Live to get it to find/remember my saved games. It should have installed with the game but...

Also make sure you have the latest patch here Fallout: Welcome to the Official Site

Other than that the game runs fine for me under Windows 7 x64.

    What is Windows 7 E?
Windows 7 E will ship in Europe without a browser due to EU legalities. A browser will be provided by the PC manufacturer on a CD or DVD or pre-installed by them on the PC.
    What is Windows 7 N?
Windows 7 N is similar to E but it doesn’t include Windows Media Player – again due to EU legalities.

Got it. Guess I'm just use to the ones sold in the United states.

I just read an article in the Fall issue of Smart Computing about Microsoft droping the Europe only version of Windows 7. It says Microsoft will sell the same version in Europe as it does in the rest of the world. It also states it will address the European concerns by proposing a "consumer bailout screen" which would allow european users to choose from among several alternative web browsers.

You can also read more about it here Microsoft changes 'ballot screen' to close antitrust case - antitrust, european union, Microsoft - Techworld

    Interesting.

Windows cant sell the "normal version" only in europe because they cant add windows media player to the product if the consumer doesnt want it. Wich would suggest that if they wanted to sell the normal version only in europe they would have to give everyone the option to remove it after install.

EDIT: Oh and all windows versions in europe are supposed to give the option to choose a browser but mine had explorer on install and never gave an option to change it, i did it manually.
