Crash course on video/audio drivers on games...

Pretty much everything that I know I have learn by first hand experience (and usually the hard way ) or by what I read from people like you guys. I hardly ever get involved in knowing the full details of what a driver can or can't do, again, I am more sit of the pantsof guy.

Take UBI latest games for instance... AC:Unity. Watch Dogs & Far Cry 4.

These games were marketed heavily as the next gen games, all the trailers looked awesome, yet, when it came time to roll the games out to the masses, they were clearly the worse console ports to pc to date.

A guy was asking if the newest beta drivers from AMD could fix the issues he was having with the game and I, in so many words, told him that it was my experience that drivers were not miracle workers and if the game was having issues with freezes, stuttering, bugs and glitches, it was going to be hard for him to wake up to a working game.

Of course I assumed by his post that given the fact he was asking for the newest beta drivers , the latest whql drivers were not working for him.

Why am I asking this? simple.... a fanboi went ballistic with insults, more so because I don't own the game even though I have said many a times that I have played it at my friends plenty of time and what I have played is enough for me to know that the game was a polished turd from the roll out. 9 patches later, for most is like pulling teeth because what was working fine before, does not work now with the new patch and it did not fix what was wrong anyways

Anyways, I guess I was more looking for first hand experience than what we can read on the internets, and of course from people with knowledge because that is what they do.

Well Daniel, I can't speak from first hand experience with AC Unity, but I do watch a lot of youtube videos following people that do, The AMD beta drivers were meant to fix a certain bug (stutters and frame drops in the cathedral area), you are right, drivers for a GPU cannot fix bad coding, the game still runs the way it was designed to be ran, like crap, and until ubisoft bring out a patch to fix it, it's not going to run any better, GPU drivers are meant to provide stability and performance, not repair bad code.

Thank you very much Sir, that is what I thought... nothing can repair bad coding. Pretty much like trying to get a 4K quality picture from a 360p stream LOL

You should have pointed him to the BF4 forums, there are still people to this day that can't run that game properly, or at all in some cases, on very capable rigs. If he could pull a magic driver out of his arse to fix that I'm sure DICE would give him a free copy.

I believe this kid is a UBI brown noser #1 Fanboi or he is trying to get a job with them (while UBI is having none of that) because he blames people for not knowing how to tweak the xml files, hence, why they can't play the game.
