    CS 1.6 + W7 64bit + CRT monitor refresh rate issues

    Hi,

I just installed W7 64bit to try it out and so far its a pretty nifty change from xp, however if I can't solve this problem I'll have to change back to xp.

I have a 19" Samsung Syncmaster 957mb CRT monitor, the native desktop resolution is 1280x1024@85hz , but I run CS 1.6 in 800x600@100hz usually, however when I launch CS now, with the same launch options as I had in XP, the game starts up in window mode.

If i remove -freq 100 (forcing the monitor to 100hz) in launch options, it starts fullscreen in "800x600", however if i check my monitors OSD and look at the display timings, its tells me that the current resolution is my dekstop resolution (1280x1024) and the same refresh rate, 85hz.

edit: To be short, the game is supposedly in 800x600, yet my monitor believes itself to be in 1280x1024?

Currently I can't find drivers for my monitor, so it only shows up as a PnP monitor, but this shouldnt be a issue, and my nvidia drivers are up to date.

Pleeeaaase give me some good news! :)

I had found that driver yes, but I can't install it via the install program, nor update the driver via device manager.
    I get this message:

"The folder you specified does not have a driver for 64bit blabla"

Hmm, mine didnt care either way about the bit difference. Why dont you have an LCD yet? I wonder if that will fix the problem.

Because I prefer a CRT with most games, I modified my Samsung driver inf file to that W7 accepted it. No change, when I go and List all available modes on my graphics card, the maximum refresh rate given is 85hz.

it's probably just some mistake with your monitor's reporting thing. it probably thinks you're at 1280x1024 since that's your default resolution. The 85mhz part is right though, since if you remove the force 100mhz thing, it's gona revert to your default refresh rate. why dont you just change the default refresh rate for your computer to 100mhz? I bet that will solve some problems
