New discovery regarding gaming on Win 7

Earlier I'd made a post searching for help in regard to playing COD4 in Win 7 64-bit. After a lot of trial and errors (updating drivers, bios, etc.), the problem still exist. I finally gave up and install a Vista 64-bit partition just for games. I was playing COD4 single player mode last night and thought it all went good, to my surprise, just only after the first chapter the game just freezes like what happened on 7 (only this time the game play lasted a little longer than on 7). Anyway, after doing some research on the problem of the game itself, I'd narrowed it down to one most likely problem - the 1.7 patch from Activision. A lot of people reporting many problems with the 1.7 patch especially on Vista. I was running XP back in the days when I play COD4. I think the patch at that time was only up to 1.4 or something. Anyway, I'll try to install the game in 7 tonight and update the patch to 1.4 and see how it runs. If it all goes well, then Activision should be the one to blame. I was wrong earlier for blaming 7 to be a very unstable platform for gaming. It ain't that bad actually. It all depends on how old ur games are. I was running Resident Evil 5 (DX10) on 7 last night and it was running great with no crashes whatsoever. But for some strange reasons, Prototype (a post XP game) freezes into a snowflake screen and need to hard reset. I still need some time to sort this out. Anyway, out of curiosity, I just want to know which platform (32/64-bit) is more stable for gaming? I've been using 64-bit OS for quite some time and only 7 gave me so much headache. A lot of people saying 64-bit OS tend to amplify problems and make matters worse. Is it true? Hope u guys can share some insights on that matter.
