For newer games: Dragon Age Origins and Fallout 3.

For an older game: Diablo II, as I had no problems getting it to run in Windows 7.

If you like Diablo I would recommend Torchlight. It's only $20 on Steam.
I'm currently playing that, it's not a bad game and I think in 12 to 18 months it'll become a MMORPG so say the developers.

Most of the good offline RPGs have been mentioned, but I've been playing one recently called Mount&Blade. It's like Oblivion meets Medieval: Total War. It can be a bit slow if you play it properly (mods and the money/xp cheats to help you along can speed things up), but the battles are great. By default, the max battle size is 100 so 50v50 battles by default that you actually take part in and fight along side your party, or you can get a mod where you can set battle size up. I'm running it with a battle size of 150 vs 150, which is great fun.

    Agree!
    I forgot this excellent game!
You have a lot of customizations and great mods for it.
This game is the example of a really good game, give it a try you don't be dissppointed.

I second Torchlight, but would buy it directly from the developer, since you always get the patches faster than anywhere else (DRM depends on where you bought the game, so the patches differ also): Torchlight - Official Site

Really neat Diablo-style game with low system requirements. Comes with the full toolset and editor. The demo can be turned into a full version, no need to restart your characters. :)

Since I'm currently addicted to Borderlands right now, I haven't got a chance to play Dragon Age yet, though I did set up my character

At any rate, i'll probably put Borderlands down and give Dragon Age a go. I'm really curious about this game as its my first true RPG game.

As for issues under Windows 7, so far Borderlands runs great. I played 5 straight hours the other day and not a hiccup or slowdown.

Oh... I'm playing Borderlands in single play and it is immersive. In case anyone is wondering how single play is.

    Peace

DRAGON AGE ORIGINS is great, massive game and you need to really think about tactics as you play as it does become quite tough, nice graphics and superb story makes it a top notch game.

Oblivion is very nice too and I have had no problems with Fallout 3 on 64bit Win7.
