War Thunder is my best choice imo: War Thunder on Steam

But if you like just flying planes, I'd reccomend: Save 80% on Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition on Steam

For GenAv simulation: FSX Gold Edition with FScene package by JustFlight. For warbird sim: War Thunder or Wings of Prey by Gaijin. They are pretty much the same sim.

For an actual "Flight Simulator" there is no other as good as X Plane. You MUST have a good computer to run it . Check it out...you will thank me. Actual airports and aircraft of all sorts are available. Been X Plane active for 6 years now.X-Plane.Org Forum - Unreal Portal

Thanks, i'll check them out before crimbo! Kinda muddling along with fsx at the mo.Can't really fault the playability but am disapointed with it's underuse of the gpx on a modern rig. I'm really looking for a combat flight sim that has some punch gfxwise.

    My specs are:

    i5 @ 3.4ghz (o'cd to4.2)
    16Gb ram @ 2400mhz
    2* gtx 760 (in sli, total 8gb)
    win7 home *64

Thanks for the reccomedations. I'll check them out & post back :)

Arma 2 and 3 have some pretty good helis and planes though they are more military simulators there are some good user made flight missions and some roles online that require flying! Honestly Arma 3 is probably one of my favorite games! just takes some time to get used to the controls...

If you like fighter planes and helis then i recommend DCS or Digital Combat Simulator
