Which would be the best wired USB controller?

    Hello!

It's been a long time, since I wanted to buy gaming controller, however, the choice is so big, that I could never decide which one to buy.
Thus I would like to ask for a recommendation. Which would be the best available PC USB wired gaming controller for Windows 7? Primary requirements so far are: 1) it should be wired; 2) easy way to configure buttons.

Thank you for your help in advance!

P.S.: Sorry if I post in wrong section, hard to decide if it's "Hardware", "Gaming" or "General Discussion" type of question.

Yes the xbox 360 controller is one of the more compatible plug and go solutions, other controllers may require a little more setting up with 3rd party programs.

Comes in two different varieties, Wired and Wireless you can purchase the wireless bundle which includes the adapter and controller, however if you're looking for cost effective and reliable and have no problem with wires the wired controller is the way to go and can generally be picked up on any online outlet.

    Good luck!

    Hello,

Sorry, it's been a while, I have purchased the XBOX 360 Controller for Windows like most of you recommended, but I cannot find where I can configure buttons. Provided software doesn't have that kind of options and "Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> XBOX 360 Controller for Windows" has only calibrate options. Am I searching in wrong places or I need some other software?

You can't configure the buttons within Windows by default. That is usually done through the game configuration (If it allows). Which most usually do.

If you really did want to re-configure some buttons you could use something like Xpadder. Not sure if it costs though. Personally I have never had to reconfigure anything as most games just set all the controls up from the get go.

    Hello, taylorig!

Thank you for the information. Xpadder is free and available on sourceforge. In some games you can't use both the controller and keyboard at the same time and many older games don't support controllers, at least not the way I want them to.
