    FIFA 14 doesn't work after Windows reinstall

    Hello. I had FIFA 14 on my laptop, but recently I had to reinstall the OS. So after that I installed FIFA 14 again, but it doesn't work. When I click the .exe nothing happens - I don't even get an error message. I've also noticed that after I try to start it, the game appears in Task Manager, but just for a couple of seconds. I've been running Windows 7 x64 before reinstalling as well and FIFA 14 has been working perfectly. What could be the reason for this and how can I fix it? I tried Compatibility Mode and other advices I found online, but without a result. I really hope that someone will be able to help me so that I could play FIFA 14 again.

    Try what I suggested to the OP in this thread:

    FIFA 14 doesn't launch

    He never replied and told me if it worked or not, but try it, it's likely the problem.

    I tried it, yes. I typed the first of the commands and a new window with the following text opened:
    Code:
    DESCRIPTION:
            Modifies a service entry in the registry and Service Database.
    USAGE:
            sc <server> config [service name] <option1> <option2>...
    OPTIONS:
    NOTE: The option name includes the equal sign.
          A space is required between the equal sign and the value.
     type= <own|share|interact|kernel|filesys|rec|adapt>
     start= <boot|system|auto|demand|disabled|delayed-auto>
     error= <normal|severe|critical|ignore>
     binPath= <BinaryPathName>
     group= <LoadOrderGroup>
     tag= <yes|no>
     depend= <Dependencies(separated by / (forward slash))>
     obj= <AccountName|ObjectName>
     DisplayName= <display name>
     password= <password>
    C:\Windows\system32>
    After that I tried to start the game with these 2 windows opened, but it was still the same. Did I do it correctly or I missed something?

    Actually, I missed something. There has to be spaces in the commands. I screwed up.

    Run these two commands before you load the game:

    Code:
    start cmd.exe /k "sc config secdrv start= demand"
    start cmd.exe /k "sc start secdrv"
    And then after you're done playing the game, run these two commands:

    Code:
    start cmd.exe /k "sc stop secdrv"
    start cmd.exe /k "sc config secdrv start= disabled"
    There has to be a space between the equals sign and the next parameter, so type the commands in exactly as you see them.

    Sorry about that.

    Ok, after typing the first 2 commands I got this:
    Code:
    [SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS
    C:\Windows\system32>
    So with these 2 windows opened I tried to start the game again but it still doesn't launch. Should command prompt be opened when trying to start it or not?

    Let's see if I'm understanding you correctly...

    You're running the first two commands, getting the success message, and then you're trying to start the game, right? And it's still not working? Is the DVD for the game in the DVD drive? Is the game properly installed?

    Have you tried setting the game up to run in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3? Try that along with the commands that I gave you and see what happens.

    Finally got the game working! Looks like the problem wasn't my Windows itself, but the drivers. After updating all of them, now FIFA 14 is working for me again. I suppose there were some compatibility issues related to one of them, but don't know which one exactly. And thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it.
