How to install Blood 2: The Chosen on Win7 x64

Blood 2: The Chosen was released in 1998 and as such, the installer program on the CD is 16-bit. This means it will not run under Win7 x64. But the game can still be installed by manual means.

There are 3 files on the CD we need- DATA, GAME and MOVIES. Go to your game folder, create a folder called "Blood 2" or whatever else you wish, and copy all 3 of those folders to that new folder.

That's it. You're done. Go into the GAME folder, find BLOOD2.EXE and run it.

Now then... there are some patches for this game. The last version was 2.21. The installers in these patches will not work either, to your grand frustration. However, both patch files include all the update data in raw folder format. They both have the GAME folder with update files. Simply copy all files over to patch manually. In my case, I had to patch to 2.0 then 2.21.

I have not yet figured out how to install Blood 2: Nightmare Levels. It might not be possible to install manually.

An odd little note about this game- it supports 1600 x 900 resolution. That didn't even exist when this game was released. However, while the game itself looks fine, the menu screen is rather tiny and the load screen splash images are grainy beyond belief as neither was made to run at this scale.

Ok here's what you do to get get Blood 2 with Nightmare Levels for Windows 7 64bit:
Easy option is buy it off gog.com
Secondly if you already have the disks:
You need to install XPmode, inside this run and install the game! Install all the patches and Nightmare levels!
Then go to the directory you installed it (usually something like c:/Blood2) Copy the game folder onto a external hard/flash drive and paste it anywhere you like in windows 7 64! It will run fine!

This method will also work for Requiem: Avenging Angel! Only you need to select custom install and include the D3D and 3Dfx boxes during installation, then patch it with the 1.2 patch and 1.3 (inside xpmode).

For either game you'll need to either have the disk, mount it or use a no cd mod to run them!

How to install Blood 2: The Chosen on Win8 x64

I own a valid copy of Blood 2 Nightmare Levels and also own a GOG version of it also. What I did was I installed my GOG edition of blood 2 first. Then I copied the "Data , Game , and Movies folders off the original Blood 2 Nightmare Levels and simply placed the 3 folders into my GOG Blood 2 Nightmare Folder. No problems with audio but with the video cutscenes are a little off sync , but very playable. PS~ It didn't ask me for the CD when I did it this way either. Hope it helps other gamers.
