Future Pinball Crashes Win7 HP x64

    Hello all,

I have been attempting to load Future Pinball (Future Pinball) and also visual pinball for about 2 months now. I've submitted forum questions in 5 different places (my first one on this forum) asking for recommendations. I have updated graphics drivers, uninstalled and re-installed so many times I cannot count. Future Pinball takes 5 minutes to download, install and get working on an XP-SP2 machine (my older laptop). I have a Dell Zino HD with ATI Radeon HD 3200 Mobility driver. I am running this software in XP-SP3 / admin compatibility mode. I've spent 40+ hours trying things to get this software to work and ZERO.

I have turned off UAC (once I learned about it). I have 2GB RAM on the cpu.

The error I get is "Future Pinball has stopped working...". The software loads and runs fine, but when I click "PLAY" to play a table, I get this error.

Does anyone have ANY ideas that I could try to get this to work? Even any "duh BIFF" things I could be doing wrong. I'm new to Win7 - love it - except for getting this game to work is a nightmare. I have toyed with the idea of going back to XP, but Dell has no XP drivers for this machine.

    Thank you for any help,

    Cheers,
    edub

EDIT - Win7 does not crash, just the app with the msg "Future Pinball has stopped working". Is there a way to tell WHAT and WHY the app is crashing? It must be trying to do something illegal (once or twice) and Windows doesn't like it. If I could somehow figure out WHAT the app is doing to cause the crash, maybe I could have some sort of hint as to how to fix it. Or at least a hint of what to try next to solve the problem.

Windows 7 can run like XP

Right hand click on the Future Pinball.exe and go to properties. Here you can tell it to run the program in XP mode with service pack 3. While you are in properties, go ahead a check the box for run as admin.

    This should work for you.

It's not a virus or anything, it's a not compatible issue. That is why they added this feature to Windows 7, so you and I can have the best of all worlds. LOL

    I have fun.

Just felt like playing pinball today & recall I had Future Pinball on my old PC which probably had Windows XP.

So I downloaded Future Pinball and the Sci-Fi Classic file. At first Sci-Fi had an error message that it could not install, or words to that effect. It had an option to use a compatibility mode & that worked. I launched Future Pinball but Sci-Fi does not come up in the Table Launcher. However there are Sci-Fi files when I look in the Future Pinball > Tables folder.

I tried both XP and Windows 7 compatibility mode in Future Pinball > Properties, both with & without running as an administrator. I also downloaded another table, unzipped it & but the contents in the Tables folder and it too does not show in Future Pinball.

    What am I missing?

I got it working. Sci-Fi Classic automatically loaded the tables into the following.
    C : > Program Files > Future Pinball > Tables folder.
So that's where I put the files for the other table I downloaded. However this is not the correct folder.

I looked to see if there was another Tables folder & sure enough there was. I moved them here & it works.
