Games Load Significantly Slower Than Before When Using Steam

    Hello everyone,

I'm not sure whether this is software or network-related so I'm going to post it as a software issue and then make a network-related topic if it turns out that's the cause.

So I tried playing a couple of games last night through my recently installed Steam. The games loaded up fine but I noticed a significant decrease in load time from before. For instance, the GTA V intro screen took about 7 seconds to load before I reinstalled my OS. Now, it takes significantly more time. I've also noticed this happens when it comes to connecting to GTA: Online. What used to be an instant transition now takes at least 5 seconds longer.

I ran the Steam installer as Admin and selected "UNBLOCK" before installing. The only AV I have is MSSE and Windows Firewall. I've added exceptions to the applications in the Firewall. Does anyone know if this is network-related or is it Steam? Any tips would be helpful.

Things I can try is uninstalling and reinstalling my Nvidia drivers. They are currently on 362.00 version (everyone I've talked to says they are the most stable). I can also try playing "hardwired" (I have both wireless and Ethernet). I can also try updating the Ethernet driver.

According to your specs you have two anti virus programs.
    You should only have one.

Two will argue with each other and cause all kinds of problems.

    From your system specs.

    Antivirus Mcafee, Avast
Browser Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 11

If you are referring to my specs in my profile, I haven't updated them. My only AV on this PC ATM is Microsoft Security Essentials.

Before reinstalling the OS, the games used to load up very fast. Now that I reinstalled the OS, they load up slightly slower. Once in game though, I don't see any problems.

    Hi,
    Reinstalled how exactly ?
Did you use a manufacture system restore or a clean install ?

Did you use the Uninstaller for which ever security that came preinstalled ?

Clean reinstall as per instructions on this very forum. Deleted the entire C:/ drive and RECOVERY partition.

I fixed the problem. I don't know what exactly fixed it but after visiting DELL's website and installing some drivers that they detected needed updating, I'm getting loading speeds that were equal or better than my previous install.

    Thank you, @Thrashzone, @Layback Bear.
