Amnesia is a horror game that preys on your psyche. It makes you imagine horrors instead of throwing them at you from a cupboard. Generally shooters like Doom and Dead Space approach monsters as something coming at you and begging for bullets. They STARTLE you.

Games like Amnesia or Silent Hill (which btw is just insane, my favorite horror game) plant an idea in your head: you're alone, it's dark, and something is out there to get you. It gives you a constant fear that something's always near. You look behind you, see nothing, try to carry on... but something makes you feel that you should check behind you again. But you can't. Because you know there's someone there.

Amnesia takes it to a whole new level though, since you have absolutely no means of defending yourself. The only thing you can do is run. Turn off your lamp, contain your screams of terror and run into the darkness. And hope that the thing following you doesn't have any friends nearby.
    Good Explaination :)

Hmmm.... game looks interesting. Definitely scary. Anyways if I can't shoot, stab it, or blow it up, it's not for me

    Good looking game though.

I played Penumbra and that was scary enough. Trying to pluck up the courage to try Amnesia, lol.

Well what I find scary right now is not being able to get past the ropburn level in Mirror's Edge

I just can't seem to get that wall run thing down I'm using a keyboard and mouse.

In case you're wondering, I have to get to other ledge of a big room where I have to turn off the fans so I can enter the vents to take the train. I can get to the upper level in the middle of the room all day long, it's getting to the end where the switch is that's killing me

Been a couple of years since I played it. It can be awkward with a keyboard and mouse, as there was a few places I got stuck, but it is manageable. I might give it another play through myself actually.

Yeah it's looking like this might be the only game I played that I wish I had a controller for

Yea, it is actually. At least I think.
Im a Keyboard/Mouse FPS player too.

But there are a few games I find the 360 controller is just better for. Mostly stuff like the Tomb Raider series, Darksiders etc ..

But Mirrors Edge if one of the few FPS style games I actually found much easier to play with a controller.

And racing games (if you don't have, or couldn't be bothered setting a wheel up)

A lot of console ports are more enjoyable with a controller - although anything involving guns and aiming lets the controller down.
