Windows 7: What Games Are You Playing?

13 Feb 2011   #881

Windows 7 32bit + Ubuntu (Dual Boot on both platforms)

May sound like blasphemy on here but I loved PoP for xbox and xbox360 :P
I'm currently playing through Dead Space 2 and Medal of Honour.
DS2 is like... mindblowing

Was having fun with stalker and complete mod 09- they ruined the scopes and the seva night vision- So I deleted the game- Sucks.

Had I not have to use patch 05 for the mod and was using 04 patch- I might have tried another mod or play vanilla- Its not worth reinstalling and patching to 04.

The mod would have been great if they left the scopes and night vis alone..

See ya..

Windows 7 Ultimate x86

I bought STALKER - Call of Pripyat. I couldn't play for 5 minutes because of random freezing and horrible FPS (even though my computer is well within specs.) I lowered some graphical options, restarted the game, and then it wouldn't start (send / don't send report). Getting my money back.

Playing Dead Space 2 atm, it's not as good as it could be. The horror is a laugh, the story is just a major annoyance because people keep shouting at me and blocking my screen (really, if the only plot is to keel all necromorphs i could have figured that by myself thankyouverymuch) and Isaac's powers are awesome. It's just too bad you can only TK flower pots, teddy bears and angry looking dirt at the enemies. I don't buy the whole "use enemy body parts to throw at other enemies" thing because it was more than once that Isaac started slowly dragging the WHOLE enemy body instead of just a pointy part and it got me cut into pieces.

Meh. Wanted a better game for all that buck ^^ Guess I'll wait for Prototype 2 for some real fun.

Windows 10 Pro
Just finished Dead Space 2

Just finished off Dead Space 2

Not a bad game at all. Good challenging levels as you move towards to end of the game. Good story as well. Overall I'd give it 95 on a scale of 100.

BTW gameplay is pretty much like DS1; and like DS1 once you finish the game other modes open up - new suits, equipment, and hardcore mode. It's definitely worth another play through though I can't say I'm ready for hardcore mode yet.

Anyways good game.

Stalker cop runs great for me in both xp 32bit and w7 64bit. Stalker games- it generally takes a lot of system to run them well or you have to lower settings.

Stalker prefers a good video card and 4 or more gigs of memory to run at its best. Cop out of the box runs the best of the 3 games- but cop does have some bad slow downs and low frames- You notice it more if it is a lot of dead bodies laying around where you are at. Cop does not clear them as well as cs or soc.

Stalker soc had same type probs pretty bad- It had to be corrected in patches or mods so the bodies do not lay around over say 1 day game time..

Note to remember when playing any stalker game: When walking along etc and the game pauses like it is loading what ever- take your hand off your keyboard and mouse- do not touch anything and wait a few seconds upto 2 minutes- it normally frees its self up and starts working again- if you move a key or anything when it starts it might be frozen for good and have to hit your reset button. Remember the places where the game does its pause thingy- it will happen every time you go back to that spot- be ready for it and do not move any keys or your mouse- You will have less problems..

I have played stalker so many times- I like mods if they work and do not change the scopes or night vision on the suits. They can do what ever they want in the mods- I do prefer added mutants more stuff to kill- I play the mods mostly because most make the game look and run better- Some are over the top mostly to make them selves god like- which I do not like either. Makes me laugh when guys get all god like and still have to use 4 clips to bring down an enemy- when 4 or 5 good head shots would have ended it.

Many of the mods are as if not more buggy than the stock game- They go changing the scopes or night vis- I cant play any more- normally you are way into the game before you find out or if you like it or not- Well I am of the not types..

Tweak guide is your friend when it comes to stalker games..

I don't want a tweak guide to be able to play a hyped game that I have paid for. Sorry, it's not like I bought it from a bunch of newbies from an independent studio. I buy games very rarely and when I do, I expect them to be actually good. So I can be entertained. That's what I pay for, not get pissed off and take my hands off my keyboard and mouse every time the game freezes.

LE: I just got Dungeon Keeper 2. For free, since Bullfrog died It's great fun for me now.

Sorry you are so uptight- But most games today- any with complicated engine or gameplay has a tweak guide or many of them anyway- Some do not have an actual tweak guide guide- But many still have a guide with like info and to help folks tweak out his game- A pc is not a console.. It is the nature of the gaming beast. If you do not know or care that is on you. Few games out of the box these days just work and most all need patches and some have out a patch before the game hits store shelves and still is buggy.

Games that you can customize or tweak out means it can play on more systems. The games run fine for me and on older pc's- I take the time to tweak them out for best performance and graphics quality for the hardware I have. I am sorry you have troubles with the game or your system is 2 poor to play it properly- it is not my fault- I just tried to help- Maybe sims2 or pong is more your systems or your cup of tea- either way- I hope you can have some fun.

You could use or read both stalker soc and cs tg and get some ideas maybe how to get better performance- the same engine in all games.. As said some games do not have an actual tweak guide- you can still google- ask it something like- [how to get better performance from stalker cop] or what ever game..

Many games that have mp online will have some sort of tweak guides too- Most trying to compete or win or take the money will dumb down his graphics and eye candy for over all performance- You can read every word I just typed for your self if you care too by using google- or do not play the game/ games- that is on you.. I never ran ut04 at its most high graphics settings when competing- I had less eye candy and a older system - but kicked butt and I was not a hack cheater.. Playing solo- I would up quality settings ..

Other tweaks like adding the -noprefetch to the game exe on your desktop helps to stop the loading lag while playing- or in soc anyway- I never tried it in cs or cop. Also in soc you could use the -nointro switch to stop the game start videos advertisements etc.. If no one took the time to post such things or a guide we would not know- Them that do try and help or post such things can not make folks read it or try and help them selves tho..

Maybe you are using a laptop trying to play such a game- if so- that is over half the prob there- You can always try and kick the game down into dx9 might help and still look nice too. Dx8 does not look bad in stalker games either- stalker soc was written originally for dx8..>

I hate to tell ya but many games have the freeze loading thingy- fo3 same thing- even bioshock games and borderlands can do same things- just some games are worst than others at it. When you know what it is and want to play the game- you will do like I said and get use to not moving keys or your mouse while the game is doing so- or hard lock or freeze- or do not play- it is as simple as that..

I can feel ya tho- games can be aggravating.. Good luck- See ya..

I am back to my fo3 goty. Maybe in a week or so I will install stalker soc again patch 1.0004 and play priboi story mod- It changes the story line and is a cool mod and fix3- well need fix3 so patrinko is immortal at the bar or mutants will kill him and you can not get his side missions or not trade with him..

See ya..
