You will probably have to reinstall most of them. When you instal games, you don't just copy the files from the disk to the hard drive, but the installer also imports valuable information into the Windows Registry. Without them, there's a good chance that the game(s) simply won't work. I suggest you just reintall the games, or keep them on XP if you use a dual boot. After all this time of using Windows 7, I still find it a bit irritating when it comes to gaming.

What is irritating about gaming and Windows 7

I have never had a better experience with gaming on 7 than any other platform. I am not the only one...the majority of others will say the same thing

I'm just saying that a lot of my older games don't work on Win7, or at least not without run-as-admin and compatibility-mode "hacks". Not to mention the nightmare of setting widescreen resolutions. Some games offer this, others don't... The games folder never deletes the icons upon uninstalling the game, neither in the All Programs section... It leaves a lot of files behind, much more than XP used to. That's all.

That may be for you...but I have had no such issues

Well, I have to say that I like the influence of the newer DirectX on some games :)

I think "older games" needs to be defined. To me an older game would be Deus X, Unreal, Thief, Hitman, to name a few. Now those games might be problematic under W7, even Farcry might be a bit .itchy, it was for me under Vista x64

Games working for me under W7 x64 thus far...

    Borderlands
    Dragon Age: Origins (just started)
    Fallout 3 GOTY
    Bioshock
    FEAR 2
    Timeshift
    Dead Space
    Cryostasis

As for the OP's question - yeah, you may need to reinstall most or all the games, especially if they're new(er) as the W7 registry will need those entries in to play the game. Been there, done that :)

Hahaha, I tried FarCry on Win7 x86 and had so much fun watching all the textures in different shades of bright blue XD
I was screwing around with the video options for half an hour before I found out what the problem was, and I was like "Hell, yeah, now I'm gonna play FC". Yeah right. Right after exiting outside to the beach, I was like "lol WTF". There was no grass, most textures were still blue and the weapons were completely trasparent (like Aero) XD haha. Exit-uninstall XD

Hmmm...I basically had the same issue under Vista x64

Also...(for reading sake) you might want to use that text editing thing and make your writing a little bigger. The default font and size should be Verdana 2 (hint)

(hurts the eyes reading such small print) :)
