Failed to set up graphics system

Here is what is going on. I been playing dungeon fighter online. I keep hearing from other players that they are getting an error preventing them from playing the game. They all say the same thing. It says "Failed to set up graphics system"

I hear this is happening in a couple other games and someone suggested a fix. Download and install the directx sdk. Ok makes sense I suppose I have seen this type of thing done before.

This fixes the issue for some people and not others though. I had someone say that the problem remained after they installed the sdk.

So has anyone else heard anything about this happening in games? Any possible solutions?

Someone did suggest using xp virtual machine personally I don't know anything about that or I could comment on the idea but since I don't I will just note that it has been suggested as a possible work around for this issue.

Still I am looking for an actual fix to this that works and that I can pass on to others who run into this.

Never used it but from everything I've read, there is no 3D acceleration and games aren't possible. (If you're referring to XP Mode.)

I've never heard of that error message. You could be fairly sure the following relates to it though.

If any Microsoft files need to be installed for the game to work well, like DX, they would be included on the install media (DVD or CD.)

The error either means that the user didn't install it or it failed somehow while installing, the video card driver is not installed well (or outdated), or there is some setting in the bios or driver that the game for whatever reason, is not agreeing with.

If this is an older game, it may require version 9.0c of DirectX . '
It will not affect your present version.

    You van download It here:

Disregard the above,. you don't ned useless files on your system if that's not the problem.

Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime this would be the safer of the two files to use, as it scans for what you need, then downloads it

I am having the person double check the graphics card drivers to make sure they are the latest. I am also having them double check directx to make sure it is all set.

Just have to wait and see what happens.

Still no luck. Latest graphics drivers and dirextx no virtualization on the machine in question so no xp mode either.

So far no one has been able to figure out what is causing this problem and it seems to be only a small potion of people who are even experiencing this.

Running the game in compatibility mode for XP or Vista might do it.

During 7 beta phase and before it was fixed, this was needed to get GTA IV to even install.

If you try to run the client using compatibility it will throw an error saying that your tying to run it in compatibility and then close.

Already tried that on my own machine once just to fix a few minor glitches and it wouldn't let me do it.
