Call of Duty 2 cd start-up Issue

I have x64 and it works fine. I just had to install in compatibility mode is all. So, yes, CoD 2 still works on 7. But when I checked multiplayer, no servers came up for me from the master server list. I'll look into it more, but last time I recall, a lot of people still play it.
my friend also had this prob with finding players.he played alone online in MP mode lol but no players have came in the lobby.even though he use XP but I think no one is playing Cod2 any more
Na I figured out what it was. At the top, it has an option for either local or lan and internet. The default is local for some reason. Anywho, I set it to internet and I got some servers to pop up. People do still play, just got to make sure your connection is for the internet and not lan or local.

Im having Win 7 Home Premium x64 and Call of duty 2. When i try to play...i can do that for 10 minutes. After that the computer crashes and the only thing i can do is to restart the computer from the button! If anybody has a solution lets share it.

Please update your system specs in your profile.
Please describe your problem in more detail. Does the game just freeze or crash then freeze the whole PC?

    Update GPU drivers.
    Update DirectX.
Downoad and install available patches for the game.

Even if the game freezes you should be able to CTRL+ALT+DEL yourself to a screen from where you can open task Manager and kill the process, but that's not the point.

Are you sure that the problem isn't hardware?
COD2 has 2 DirectX modes for rendering graphics, DX7 and DX9. Check these settings, it DX7 is enabled, change it to DX9. Unfortunately, for the time being, I cannot think of anything else to point out. The specs you included are fully capable of handling COD2 with high settings...

Im not able to use CTRL+ALT+DEL. Like i said i have no other choice except restart...Im playing the game on DX7, because the video card is very slow for DX9. I dont know if its hadware problem or not. If you have any suggestions...
    Thank you!

Change the rendering to DX9 and lower the settings, then restart the game.

I doubt that your GPU is slow, seeing has how it's not really ancient. unless it really is a hardware issue.

I have a problem with COD2 as well. When I try to start it, it goes black and then there's a box saying that "COD2 has stopped working". This olny happens when I try starting MP. Can anyone help?
