    Hi,
can you confirm that you have the latest DirectX, GPU drivers, patches for the game, that the game is allowed through Windows Firewall?

    Hello,
I have the same problem as zekkecraft does. My SP is working as intended, I can start the game, do missions... But when I want to play MP, it starts and then the whole application crashes. "The application has stopped working." I am really clueless, I have latest DirectX, GPU drivers, game patch and it is enabled in Windows Firewall.
When I had Win XP on this same computer, CoD 2 was working without problems, but other games did not. So I choosed to install other OS and I have chosen Win 7. Now the other games work but CoD 2 doesn't. I am even trying to run it with Win XP SP3 compatibility.

Yes, I have all the latest up-dates on everything. I have tried to run it in Xp (sp2 and sp3) mode as-well.

Reinstalling the game does not help me. What should I do? Should I reinstall my Win to x64 version?

    No problem.
Vista is one of the worst Operating Systems for computer gaming and other software.
Because of that I used the old XP till Windows 7 came on the market.
Don't forget btw that Windows has given a free code to upgrade to Windows 7 when you bought a Windows Vista. If not, you're not at the right store :P
Actually I downloaded Windows 7 on the internet for free. I bought a new computer a few months ago and you can get way better hardware if you don't have to buy for the OS.

Have fun with your Windows 7

I had and issue where COD 1 and CODUO worked perfectly. After Playing those on my pc about 100 times...lol, I decided it was time for COD 2. I initially had problems installing COD 2 in Windows 7 until I researched the problem and found this forum. Finally I was able to Install COD 2 by doing the "Run As Administrator" thing. However, when I tried to play the game. My computer was very slow and unresponsive at times. I had almost given up on it until I went to "Contol Panel" and opened up the "NVIDIA Control Panel". Under "Adjust Image Settings with Preview", the "Let the 3D application decide" was ticked. So, I ticked "Use my preference emphasizing" and set it to "Balanced". Restarted my computer, ran COD2 as Administrator again, Problem solved! Working great now. Hope this helps.
