I patched to the 1.2 version and lost my sound. It seems like the game cannot detect the speaker settings. have tried a few different things but I can't get game sound back. Seems like all other sounds are working fine.

Hello Freddie, welcome to the forums.
My first recommendation is to reinstall the game, and see if the sound registers then. I had the same problem on Vista (Same pc) with Battlefield 2142, though I think that was my sound card dying...

Yeah I tried a complete re-install. Re-installed the sound drivers too. Initial install worked fine. 1.2 patch kills the sound. I am using an X-Fi extreme music card. Alll the other sounds work great just no WAW
Just set your playback default format 16 bits,41000 HZ cd quality and you will have sound back.It is known issue with patch 1.2 for Call Of Duty World At War.
