uninstall GFWL, but not the game. then run the game, and open the multiplayer. It will ask you to install GFWL, and follow its instructions. Then check if it works ;D
When I uninstall GfWL I cannot even run the game because it says xlive.dll is missing. After installing XLive from the game disc it's the same situation as always.

Do you have any programs you did not have installed on xp installed on your windows 7 machine?
I already investigated that and came up with nothing, I have the same software as on XP. I even tried uninstalling majority of the software, even AntiVirus [thus compromising my computer] but still nothing positive happened.

Two. One integrated [nForce] and a Realtek one. I already tried plugging the cable into the the other one [I have it in Realtek normally] and nothing changed.
Btw, the MAC that event viewer gets is non-existent, there is no card with MAC 00:B0:21:55:CF:05 in my system :O
I'll try getting the Realtek card out of the mainboard manually and will report back.

I found a solution to it. When you sign into live in the game you need to uncheck the "save email address" check boxes. I also deleted my IE cache too which may have helped as well.

Now I can sign in and play the game fine.

I am having the exact same problem with Windows 7 64-bit. Your solution QuackPot didnt do anything for me. When Im in Gears of War, my Windows Live ID doesnt sign in, but on the Windows Live site, it works perfectly fine.
