Windows 7: Rise of Nations Not Compatible?

The very first game of RoN. I can not even start setup. I tried every single compatibility mode, but didn't work. When I double click RONSETUP.EXE nothing happens. What might be the problem? I've read that people can run this game under Windows 7, but I can't? Any help would be appreciated.

Nevermind. I manually extracted game.cab files and ran a registry setup. I have a few small sound issue. Sound comes corrupted when the game starts.

Both RoN and its expansion pack worked fine for me, I just put the CD in and ran it from autoplay.

I don't know why it didn't work for me. I manually extracted cab files and ran a registry setup of game. Everything works fine, just that sound issue. In the game, not in game's menu, while playing sound cracks time to time. With my sound card it was so bad. I removed my soundcard and tested with onboard sound. It is much more better but still sometimes sound cracks. I hope there is a chance to fix this...

This program does not work for me. I am extremely frustrated. I get an MSXML error and it refuses to play. From what I have seen so far most of my games will have this issue in windows 7. Suffice to say I am severely displeased.
